+1 on the your pictures suck. down vote away. it's dead. hold it by the tail or just lay it on something. No appreciation of size can be obtained from either pic.
Also congrats on killing a snake in its habitat. Your yard? Sure. The swamp..... why?

That nasty bitch wouldn't be that close to me. I would have it extended with a pole saw.

The reason y'all think cottonmouths and copperheads have a distinct smell is because you're always bashing them with sticks and stuff. That causes them to release musk because snakes are pretty defenseless and smelling too bad to eat is one of the best things they can try. But, all snakes have musk. Cottonmouths don't smell any more than any other snake, if you aren't trying to kill them.

You did the right thing! Non-venomous I leave alone, but something like that is getting a bullet, a big stick or brick to the head! Good job!

It also helps illustrate the perceived size difference when you use two different size stuffed snakes to prove your point.

Killing a snake that's doin snake stuff in his snake environment. Your teaching your son some good outdoor ethics. You should be proud of yourself. Would you killed it if you weren't packing?

What is it with you snake freaks? A poisonous snake is just like a hog, kill everyone you see.
