I was just reading Phil Steele's summary on UCLA.

UCLA has 19 starters returning, but Steele ranks their schedule as the #8 toughest schedule in 2019. Here is their schedule:

at Cincinnati
San Diego St
Oklahoma
at Washington
at Arizona
Oregon St
BYE
at Stanford
Arizona St
Colorado
BYE
Utah
at USC
CAL

Last year they finished 3-9 with wins against CAL, Arizona and USC.

Although I am aware of what Chip Kelly did at Oregon, I am not a big fan of his. With that said, I think they finish 7-5, but long term I don't think Kelly will built what he had at Oregon.

Does anyone think he will build the UCLA program up to where he had Oregon? Anyone not sold on Chip Kelly?

I just saw a recruit that was supposedly leaning to UCLA picked Auburn this week. They're currently ranked 70th in recruiting after finishing in the 40s this past cycle. I don't know what Chip is doing.

The'll finish 6-6 this year.

I have them losing to Washington and predict them finishing 7-5. But I think there is a chance they drop one of their first two games. I give them a 2 game swing that could finish anywhere between 5-7 and 9-3 which 9-3 being the most unlikely finish.

The last time I checked the O/U on how many games they will win in 2019 was set at 6.5.. But I think it opened at 6, but they are one team I will be interested to see how their season goes.

I'll give Chip Kelly the benefit of the doubt. I'm expecting a huge improvement from last season.

Possibly

Chip is an a-hole, it wears thin on players. His ego is bigger than his win totals.

I'm a fan of Chip. I still think he can do big things at UCLA, but he's gotta suck it up and start recruiting.

7-5.

I think the biggest problem for Chip right now is recruiting and inability to connect with players. He really connected with those Oregon rosters, players loved him. But I get the feeling that since he left for the NFL his players feel like he's not approachable and they get frustrated with him.

It's so easy anymore without Nike and being the new IT thing, is it Chip?

What's special about Kelly now that everyone is doing it?

He's like the high school Prom Queen that goes back to high school 10 years later and realizes she's old and fat and past her glory days.

Chip Kelly has never been an elite recruiter, his Oregon teams always punched above their weight despite having a shallower talent pool. He shouldn’t be having these same issues at UCLA with a larger pool of talent to choose from but he still isn’t recruiting like he should. If his teams had half as many blue chips as a team like USC then he would not have struggled like he did the last season.

Chip Kelly has said himself that he hates recruiting. He’s gonna be a dud at UCLA
