Yeah he's also talking about a vacation. Europeans are not going to these places everyday to eat and chow down.
I don't have any science behind my thinking, just personal experiences. I've mentioned it before, high fructose corn syrup. That shite is in a lot of our foods. It's addictive and provides nothing but making you fat.

I would have never guessed Iowa would be so obese since it’s primarily white with a high education and socioeconomic

Good point.
There is a difference between a Sunday afternoon/dinner and what they eat mon-Friday.
My thoughts:
1. Sugar/sweetener. As you mentioned.
2. Portion sizes.
3. Fat. We compensate with cheap fat and this need more to feel saturated. They don’t. Think how little NYC style cheesecake you need. Very little since it so rich.
4. Movement. They walk goat more than we do. To the metro. Up two/3 flights of stairs.

Can’t argue with this. I spent a summer in Europe and lost weight even though it was a carb-heavy diet. But the carbs were not sugar and the servings were smaller. And everyone walked everywhere.
I think the socioeconomic argument is overblown. I see fat middle class, educated people everywhere. Yes, percentage-wise, educated people with money will be a little less fat but the obesity rate is still high.

It must make you sick to agree with me. ;)
Cheers!

Yeah. I’m 5’11” 242 and every chart says I’m like morbidly obese. I know I need to lose 20-30 pounds but I ain’t morbidly obese. I’m in better shape than most people.
I’d look sick at 190.

If those on food stamps were only supplied healthy food, these numbers would DRASTICALLY fall.
However, Big Pharmacy don't won't no part of that.

Just think, Colorado is the fittest state with roughly 1 in 4 adults being obese. America is fat as hell.

I always find this a irrelevant topic for me, because...I'm skinny.

I knew Alabama would be there.
The fat Adults,that's on them.
jmho, the shame/outrage is that there is such a high percentage of overweight kids.
A kid should be running all the time.
I guess eating habits are copied, and, you eat what is served, when you're a kid.

True. Also portion sizes tend to be smaller. Little if any of the "supersize me" menatality.
