Wonder Woman and Aquaman were fantastic.
They need to stick to this recipe.

But no.. Marvel is too far ahead for them to catch

It depends on if you think everything Marvel does is solid gold. There are plenty of people that think there are no bad movies in the MCU. There are DC movie with better quality than a number of Marvel movies.

I was hoping the Russians shutting TD down this morning was a one and done. Now it looks like they've left some Gremlins from the Kremlin to screw with us.

They're not gonna top the MCU run from Iron Man to Endgame anytime soon, if ever. Hell, nothing may top that in my lifetime as far a scope and quality are concerned. If they stick with their current formula and the MCU takes a step back like many expect they may find parity with Marvel in the coming years, but I doubt it.

Do the Nolan films count in the comparison? It seems like the films are only compared from Iron Man on.

Does Anyone have an idea what phase 4 of MCU is going to be?

I heard rumors that phase 4 is going to also be a DC reboot where they merge both universes into one. I think the overarching plot point will deal with the Flash going back and reversing everything that the Avengers did in Endgame.

I think the question should be how does the MCU compare against Scorsese best?

No, not when it comes to a cohesive movie universe like the MCU.

It's too bad b/c it would have been pretty simple to integrate the Nolan films into a full on DCEU. People would have gone nuts for an eventual return of Bale and they wouldn't have had to waste time on Batman's backstory they way it was forced into BvS. With how that trilogy ends it gave them an easy explanation for why Batman wasn't around.

Instead... we got Snyderverse.

Yea I figured we weren't counting that but just asking bc Batman Begins and TDK are the two best super hero movies of all time imo.

DCU kind of started off on the wrong foot yeesh. I actually liked Watchmen and Man of Steel so I can see why they gave him the reigns but but god BvS was brutal.

They have some shots at redemption though with their upcoming stuff. If you like Aquaman, Shazam and Wonder Woman, then they could run off a nice little string of good movies.

DC's movies were of similar quality when they weren't so focused on the "world build like the MCU" focus.

Wonder Woman came before that point, but didn't really tie in to the other movies (because it is set so far before them). Aquaman and Shazam came after they decided to abandon that route.

All the movies that tried to really do that (BvS, Justice League, Suicide Squad) failed pretty terribly because all of them were desperate to mimic Marvel's success (most painfully obvious in Suicide Squad and JL). Man of Steel is the only movie that can operate as a standalone film that isn't considered a good movie, but in that situation it was more of it being too dark of a take on an otherwise bright hero.

I feel like this topic has been done to death.

Marvel has better overall quality by far but a lot of it is one note. Logan is the only really great Marvel film that is serious.

DC has Batman Begins and the Dark Knight, which Marvel can't match. They also have a few turds that Marvel doesn't.

DC probably can't match the overall quality of Marvel in the near future. They could, and should, focus on individual projects. The movies they have that aren't part of an extended universe actually tend to be pretty good.
