How much time does it normally take a transmission shop to rebuild your transmission?

It depends on which project car or truck I’m working on.

Axe placebeaux tomorrow.
That’s his gig.

Depends on how backed up the shop is with work. The guy I use can remove the tranny, rebuild it, install it and test drive it easily on the day he starts working on it---and start a few more if done early enough in the day.

If they are not busy they can rebuild it in a day.

I recently had yo have my transmission rebuilt for my Jeep. 6 speed manual. 2 months, but he was one of only 2 shops in the entire Nashville area that will rebuild a manual.

Plan to be without your vehicle for a week or more.

If it's a common trans it's more likely they would put in a rebuild and use yours as a core to get you on the road.

Agreed, and this is a better quality rebuild, usually with a warranty.

If you don’t like this speed, you’ll hate their other one.

Find a shop that will install a Jasper Transmission. Nationwide 100,000 mile warranty and they can schedule to have the transmission sitting in a crate at the shop before bringing your vehicle in.

Depends on the make of your car... more than likely the transmission that's going in yours is already built...

Most shops take 1-3 days for most cars and trucks. If they find more problems when tearing it down, add another day or 2.

I have a shop that repairs or slaps a rebuilt ones in my company trucks. They always say a week and usually get done quicker in 3 to 4 days depending on how backed up they are and how long it takes the transmission to come in.

Depends if it’s warranty work or not. If not, a week. If so, 2-4 weeks. Just had one rebuilt that was under warranty.....it took them a month. Mechanics don’t make full hourly rates on warranty work. They will put it on the back burner until they are caught up with non warranty jobs. This is from the mechanics mouth.

That sucks, because this is warranty work, so I guess it’s going to be in there awhile. It is what it is.
