Hey Tigers,

Just wanted to let everyone on this board in on a bit of info. Chris Blair (the sportscaster for LSU) was the long time sportscaster at Georgia Southern. He is a stand up guy and a great announcer. I would listen to him on radio while watching the games from our seats. A good bit of our games weren't televised so listening to him call a football, or basketball game was the next best thing to attending. He has a way of being excited without over dramatic. He is also very good at painting a clear picture of the action while also delivering interesting insight to what is going on. I'm coming to death valley to see this game in person, but I'll be listening to Blair call the game from my radio the entire time. Hoping I get to hear him say "put an Eagle 6 on it" one last time for ol time sake.

Blair Calls Southern over Gators... Hey Now!

Bahaha

Perfect reply... It's probably wishful thinking. I hope y'all are enjoying him calling your games as much as we did. As mentioned, stand up guy.

I like Chris Blair but I know some people on this board don’t. I have actually heard a complaint that he is “too professional” whatever that means.

It's taking a while to get used to him for me. I listen to a LOT of LSU games on the radio, and I just find that his voice isn't very distinctive. That said, IMO, the proof of a PBP man is the fast-paced game of basketball. Blair is an EXCELLENT basketball PBP man - much better than our last one (whom I really liked to listen to, except for basketball.)

Cheers, and good luck with the rest of your games.

I love Chris Blair and if people could separate themselves from JH, which after.. 40 years, is difficult to do, but if people could shed their bias (albeit, understandable bias) they'd see his talent.

I get that he didn't grow up a tiger fan and his passion wasn't initially there, but this past year you could really hear it. And in the WW media hack jobs, CB was super salty with the "journalist" and that was cool.

Also, OP sounds like we haven't had CB for a few years already and are just learning of him

I like a little raw emotion and homerism out of my PBP guy sometimes. Chris tries too hard, although he’s gotten better

Don’t disagree with you, but it’s hard to follow Jim Hawthorn in reference to passion and allegiance to LSU

I think he is good but he never anticipates and takes too long on some calls.

Blair has grown on me and will be OK. I like the guy, no complaints. He stepped into huge shoes to fill in back to back voices of the Tigers in Ferguson and Hawthorne which the two of them covered generations of LSU fans. Given time, he is on the right track to possibly be as iconic to LSU as the previous two were.

frick these Rantards who say anything negative. He's great. We're lucky to have him. I especially enjoy his calls of LSU baseball games. His predecessor was getting bad at baseball(depth perception) and basketball(pace) in the last couple of years.
I Hope he stays here for his whole career but many of us believe he'll take a pro gig when they come calling.

And Your Eagles ain't scoring shite against this defense! Rawr.

Basketball is the one sport Hawthorne was good at. He was awful at baseball and as he aged he lost the patience that is required of a baseball announcer.

I like him a lot. I knew going in that we could never clone Hawthorne, so I was open-minded. Blair has exceeded my expectations.

Love Jim Hawthorne. I don't know if I can get used to Blair , probably at some point. I realize he is really good, won't even try to say he isn't but I'll get used to it I guess someday

Hes grown on me this past year as well especially after the basketball season.

But I do need him to get excited a bit more.

Nothing beats that Walkoff call from JH to me.
