Been a lurker for years on this board..had to sign up when I seen this.

First, those little dude from Gonzlaes could really play, and the coaches were the real deal. But damn you right about bat shite crazy moms. Dont get me wrong...I get it..but it was funny.

All in all..they were cool folks..just maybe a bit out of control.

Their 7U team placed second to Ruston.

Dixie youth has to seriously update their double elimination brackets though. They are 40 years old and beyond dumb.

Dixie Youth....

Is that better than Pony? Because my impressions of Pony are not very good at this point. Seems like a dying organization.

Close enough to being the same thing. Local REC leagues trying to survive by hosting tournaments dragged out to collect gate money and keep them afloat. All this while being run by political old folks that like their little corner of world to have some power.

I actually took photos today of two Gonzales vehicles because of the names, Braxton and Jaxon, because of this place. Smh

Well they need to try something new. This little scheme of fake tournaments and sending half the local teams to super regionals and World Series can’t last forever.

Dixie youth is dying also. Little league is where everyone is moving trying to get the travel ball kids to come back. Dixie had been doing some corrupt and shady shite for a few years. Many places are leaving or have left. All of swla has left except dequincy and this was their last year I believe.

LL also passed a rule to be eligible for post season okay as a 10/12/14 year old you must have played little league or rec ball in general the year before. Essentially to play for the LLWS you must make a two year commitment. This was to stop teams like SLC from having kids play travel ball year around(true select ball) and then turning around and having them come play rec ball for one yearm

This is very interesting. What types of things has Dixie done in the past?

I’d like to see a map showing which rec leagues belong to which organization if anyone knows of anything like that.

I think these separate organizations may be hampering the overall rec response to select ball.

Is select just an evolution that will replace rec entirely? I don’t think it can.

Exclude blacks when LL integrated.

From what I see at the all-star tournaments, blacks are excluding themselves from baseball at this point, and it’s a shame.

Though I allow for the possibility that they are playing rec and just not being selected, or choosing not to spend time and money on post-season.

In our rec, in a 31% black town, maybe 10-15% of the kids in rec baseball were black.

The losing team spectators always think the winning team is too loud and crazy! Gonzales mom’s are no different than any other baseball mom’s. At least Gonzales played clean. Congratulations from the second place team would be a better way to show 8 year olds how to be good sportsmen.
