Negative. He may live on the northshore now but his family is from Metairie. I am friends with his sister.

His parents own a restaurant in Fat City called Anselmo’s.

Louis Prima (1812 St. Peter St., NOLA) is in the conversation.

Reznor born in PA and grew up in Cleveland. Then he left for Chicago. He is NOT from NOLA.

Don’t a couple of the guys from R.E.M. consider New Orleans home?

How dare you mention r.e.m in this thread. Phil would do this to your face if he knew:

Vinnie and Dime were still alive, and Pantera had a reunion, it would be one of the biggest music moments in its time.

Phil was responsible for Pantera. Had the best guitarist on the planet in HIS band. He deserves that credit. He sticks to his roots and loves where he's from, and hated MTV culture and modern music. I like that about him

Pantera already existed before Phil joined them, so I don’t think you can say it was Phil’s band. It was already the Abbott brothers’ band, so I think the credit is theirs. Phil was in Razor White with my best friend when he left to join Pantera. Phil’s first album with them (Power Metal) was just typical cheesy hair metal, though Phil did take them to another place vocally after that and basically redefined metal with Vulgar.

Personally I prefer their musical style on Cowboys From Hell, but song for song, Vulgar is my all time favorite album.

As far as “hating” MTV culture, they actually capitalized on it and were part of an MTV contest in which the winner got to fly on Pantera’s plane with them to their next show or something like that.

Phil was also responsible for the demise of Pantera; but then again, we wouldn’t be talking about Pantera if it weren’t for him either.

Pantera had an album debut at #1 (Billboard) in '94.

Technically from Oxford, MS. He is a big influence on the scene in NOLA with Graveyard Rodeo and then COC. But for God's sake, he is the guitarist in the band he heads with Phil. He is a great guitarist. Nowhere near the lead man. Pepper became a lead man by accident.

That video is badass. Whenever I need a hit I watch this.

Phil and his new band had a concert I think in London the other night. They played Pantara songs. Crowd was amped
