Yes, I know there are plenty of zero turn mower threads, I’ve searched them. I’m hoping for some specific recs in my price range. I think I need a 48 to 54 inch deck, as sturdy and reliable as possible. I’ve got a hilly 1 acre to mow around the house. Not willing to spend 5 grand plus, goal is around $4,000 or less. Sorting the wheat from the chaff on FB marketplace or Craigslist is overwhelming, seems safer to buy new.

What dealers do you have in your area? At that price point, most brands will have decent homeowner models. Service will be a deciding factor.

Which ever brand you choose. Go through a dealer. I’m not a fan of the big box stores. I have owned a Hustler Fasttrak 20/52 for 13 years. Absolute tank. I would say find some dealers and go test drive them.

Hustler
Exmark
Bobcat
Gravely
Grasshopper
Stag

Gravely ZTX 52”

I had one and loved it. Just stepped up to the gravely HD because I found a deal I couldn’t pass up.

I’ve been having a 54” Husqvarna with 26HP Kohler engine for 3 years. Cut 4 acres flat land. Payed $3000. Very satisfied.
Whichever you choose get it from a dealer, not big box store.

Get the most commercial grade one that you can. I just bought a 1 year old Husqvarna Z560 with suspension seat, 52 hours, and I got it for $5200.

I cut four acres about every 10 days. I have a 54” residential Bad Boy, Koehler engine. I’ve had it for four years, and the only thing I’ve done other than regular maintenance is change a bad solenoid.

My FIL has a 48” Hustler Raptor with the Kawasaki engine that he loves. If you’re only cutting one acre, this is the one I’d honestly recommend. They are very similar in price. You don’t need anything commercial with the amount that you’re cutting.

Check out the Hustler Raptor SD 54", as others have stated I would purchase from a local dealer and not a big box store like Lowes. I bought mine from Michael Canal & Sons in Hammond and they have been good to deal with.

Does this seem like a good deal? It has a Kohler engine.

I have Scag Liberty Z 36” cut with Kawasaki engine. Works great, highly recommended. And right at $4k.

Purchased at Gautreaux’s.
