It's going to take approximately 38 seconds from the time it opens until the time some dumbfrick makes a right turn on red into oncoming traffic at the crossover.

Why? He won't have many wrecks there.

In east Tenneessee, the main exit on I-40 to the smokies was redesigned to be a double diamond. They never closed the exchange, but it was off season.

Change orders, change orders, and more change orders. Drag your feet and try to skimp by with a skeleton crew, while you bid the job with twice the labor hours than you're using. Work slow as molasses during the mild weather months and fail to take advantage of said weather, and scramble because you didn't take into account that there will be bad weather for weeks at a time in the late spring, summer, and early fall.
So is this "affliction" something that affects only LA contractors? Because I've been in other states and they move MUCH FASTER when it comes to road construction.

Pretty cool. We have several in Atlanta

Louisiana drivers are too stupid to figure out how to drive a roundabout. What makes anyone think that they could figure a diverging diamond intersection out?
Posted on 6/19/19 at 4:24 pm to RealityTiger
I drove through one of these in Biloxi. It was my first time ever going through an intersection like that. It felt wrong driving on the wrong side of the road for a while.

A roundabout is more complicated, for at least the 5th time in this thread.

it's gonna be fun watching louisiana drivers try to navigate that thing.
How? It's pretty idiot proof.
Louisiana drivers be like

All you do is drive around the circle until you get to where you are wanting to go. If someone is too stupid to drive in a circle then they are too stupid to drive in a diamond. That stuff might work in other places but other places do not have the retard factor like Louisiana does. Hell the drivers in Louisiana are too stupid to figure out to drive on the basin bridge without causing a wreck and that is pretty much driving in a straight line.

But this is actually extremely difficult to frick up.
One good wreck at the crisscross light and all lanes are fricked. It will happen...frequently.

This. Its easier to use than a cloverleaf, which any idiot can use.
People on the internet sure are stupid.

You mean like any intersection in existence?

It's the correct side of the road, treasonous colonial.

The ones on the north side of the city required a traffic cop to direct flow... for years! Hopefully that was only due to the amount of traffic not a design flaw.

You can’t change order a design/build project.
The contractor is also the designer. He can’t change order his mistakes.

Serious question since I know this is your field- whats your opinion of diverging diamonds?

At least not all lanes potentially blocked at one point.

Was it the exit just west of the I-110 exit?
I had to do a double take at that exit. Seems to work well here though.

There is a free right before the intersection, the same as current interstate ramps.
