What exactly is the point you're trying to convey here?

You don't like Mainieri? We get it.

That saying pleasant things about someone in a media interview doesn’t mean much. I don’t know Skip’s private thoughts on Mainieri. I do know what some of Skip’s former players think of him though.

Here you go

I understand the date on that article but I highly doubt that Skip has changed his opinion.

So because some of Skip's former players don't like him means he should be fired?

I'm really asking. I just don't see the point you're trying to get at.

You are out of your depth. CPM has a de facto lifetime contract. He is here until he retires.

I know 3 former players and they think he’s an arse, they all had good careers under him as well.

Is this your opinion or fact? If it’s fact you’re going to have to back it up with a little more than what you got.

The fans take of “the players hate Mainieri” has been a myth on this site for a long time, and it’s simply not true.

Not a myth. If you could talk to almost half the 2017 team, they would tell you how much they hated playing for Maneiri. #sauces...but seriously, it’s true.

There’s so much parity in college baseball these days, yet he’s still held to the same standard as Skip.

No he's not held to the same standard as Skip. He's being left behind by Arkansas, MSU, UF, Vandy...All programs that have had more success than PM's LSU Tigers over the last 10 years. We don't expect him to be Skip Bertman but WE do expect LSU to be the premier program in the SEC!

quote:

In the postseason, when it matters, he put his guys in a situation to win.

You can NOT be serious. He made 2 nonsensical pitching decisions that were directly responsible for the 2L's in the Super. #1 calling in Vietmeir giving up an unbelievable .396 to lefties to face FSU's 3 top hitters two of them being lefties with power. #2 Letting Fontenot pitch to Drew Mendoza with 1st base open! NO SIR! PM set both of those kids up for failure!

quote:

The players have to take some responsibility, Mainieri didn’t make those 4 base running errors this weekend. Mainieri didn’t drop the ball at the plate.

Mainieri recruited and developed these players. It's his job to have them prepared physically and MENTALLY for the big stage. What we saw against FSU was NOT an anomaly, 2009 was an anomaly, this year was typical of the other PM team's I've watched choke over the last 12 years.

So players who played nearly 2 decades ago or longer are the ones who know LSU baseball?

Yeah, we let the old basketball players and Dale have their way....that didn't turn out to well.

Mainieri isn't a bad coach, but he shouldn't be the coach of the best program in college baseball. LSU should have an elite coach, and Mainieri isn't on the elite level.

I trust LSU's new AD to do the right thing at the right time. Of course, the previous regime had foolishly signed Mainieri to a long-term deal, so that could be a factor. Of course, I would imagine that Mainieri makes about 25% of what Coach O makes, so there's that.

PS - After LSU won the 2009 College World Series, some baseball website predicted which college baseball schools would have the most success in the coming decade (2010-2019). They ranked LSU #1. The decade just ended, and nobody here can deny that LSU GROSSLY UNDERACHIEVED during this time.

Sorry, but Paul Mainieri is responsible for that underachievement.

All I know is Zac Person will call anyone out on twitter who has anything negative or what could be perceived as possibly negative. He is definitely a CPM lover. Most of his former players will go to bat for CPM. It's players that played here prior who don't have love for him. I like CPM but he needs to get to Omaha next year.

LOL! Poor Dale. First he does more with less talent, then he does less with more talent, then he turns the LSU BB program into a dumpster fire!

Skip Bertman was a prick. Have you ever heard the stories about him and how he talked to his players. Doesn’t sound like you’re familiar with LSU baseball. Most championship caliber coaches are not easy to play for. Players don’t need to love their coach to perform.
