6-7 is probably fair. I definitely think that player development is the most concerning part right now. We haven’t developed a quality Friday night starting pitcher since Nola left other than Lange, and he regressed the longer he stayed under Dunn.

Considering where our historical 10 is id say it's a 6-7 and not trending up .....basically holding steady at slightly above average.

I don’t like our trend vs Ark, State, Vandy or even Florida.
So, in your opinion, what’s our number?

Lsu baseball is a 10. Coaching is a 7

6.5 . Better than average but nothing special . No one is scared to play LSU . One decent run in the last 10 years . Great history . Trending down

I have us at a 6.2.
We are always in the conversation for the SEC and Top 8, but a few thoughts:
1) The facility is falling behind. Anyone who doesn’t see that hasn’t left Alex Box.
2) We recruit talent, but a poor mix. Signing the top 10 HS shortstops isn't building the best team to win a national title. That is an extreme example, but not far off from reality.
3) Our hitting approach is not good for college baseball. College pitchers are erratic. Work counts. Let teams beat themselves with walks. We swung at more balls than strikes this weekend - just like Sean used to do.
4) Our pitching approach is not good. When you are pitching ahead 0-2, 1-2, don’t offer a fastball across the heart of the plate. It’s a good strategy for Ks, but you give up your share of 2 strike base hits as well. I don’t think Skip ever called an 0-2 pitch over the plate.
5) Has a recruit ever said he came to LSU to play for Paul Mainieri?

Seriously? Got a list of 2 or 3 reasons you give it that rating?

This is a very good question!
