I’m pretty sure you have to have a 360 white light at night

Subtle camp brag.

The only overall requirement right now is having PFD on board. There is also a required white light (visible at one mile) requirement for kayaking before or after safe light.

I think kayak laws should/could change soon with the number of kayakers in Louisiana.

Law only requires the PFD be on board, doesn't require it to be worn.

Kayak fishing tournaments have it in their tournament rules that a PFD has to be worn at all times though.

And within reach, unfortunately. I'd love to store mine out of the way.

Here's another interesting thing I just learned recently...

If you have an inflatable PFD, some of them have labels on the inside that say "MUST BE WORN". If you have an inflatable on your kayak/boat and it says that on it, it's only legal if you are wearing it. Not all inflatables say this though.

Get an inflatable. You can just wear it and won't even notice it.

Inflatables only count when worn, motor boat or yak.

About to have to buy a bunch of new PFDs if I buy this new boat Friday, so I may get one of those for the yaks.

Why is this being downvoted? It’s the law in Louisiana.
