Las Vegas Bowl at new, state-of-the-art Las Vegas Stadium starting in 2020

Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl joins forces with SEC, Big Ten and Pac-12 at new Las Vegas Stadium starting in 2020
LAS VEGAS – Beginning in 2020, the Las Vegas Bowl will be played in the new, state-of-the-art Las Vegas Stadium and feature a team from the Pac-12 Conference vs. a team from either the SEC or Big Ten Conference in a six-year deal announced Tuesday at the Palms Resort.
“In less than three decades the Las Vegas Bowl has grown into a must-see event each December and this collaboration takes us to the next level in not only the bowl world, but also the sports landscape as we will welcome three of the top conference brands in the nation to our event, which will be played in a stadium that is second-to-none.”
The new agreement will run from the 2020 game through the 2025 game and the Las Vegas Bowl will be move to a post-Christmas date for the first time. During those years, the Las Vegas Bowl will get the No. 2 selection (after the College Football Playoff selection) from the Pac-12 and share that position with the Holiday Bowl.
The Las Vegas Bowl will share a spot with the Belk Bowl in the SEC “pool of six” that follows the CFP and Citrus selections and host a team here in 2020, ’22 and ’24.

Highest attended non playoff bowl in history. Well maybe not actually attended as in the game, but more fans than the stadium can hold will make the trip to Vegas

Mitsubishi has enough spare cash laying around to be a title sponsor?

As a Pac fan, I'm happy for this too. P12/SEC games are few and far between.
Moving it after Christmas and getting SEC vs Pac should do a lot for attendance. The Raiders stadium will obviously be a massive upgrade.

This will be the perfect landing spot for a perpetual 8-4/9-3 lsu team and it’s rowdy fanbase

And a perpetual 8-4 USC team under Helton as USC fans and alums in L.A. will make that easy 4-hour roadtrip.

This is great! However I wish we did not have to share this with the big Ten.

It’s a definite improvement from the current LV Bowl, but let’s not get carried away. 8 win Utah v 8-5 Moo State isn’t going to draw 80k.

Yeah I don't see why this would have any effect on a CFP game.
Couple of weeks difference and they can just roll in the new fields which is always the main concern.

#1 team from the PAC 12 isn't going to be 8-5 Utah.
And if SEC selection is behind only the Citrus that would be the #3 team assuming #1 is in CFP.

What’s going to really suck will be when they move the Rose bowl to the rams new stadium

Think the Cotton Bowl and the Zaxbys Heart of Dallas Bowl

That's not how it works.
The PAC 12 team would be the best available AFTER the CFP and the NY6. Best case scenario it would be the #2 team if the PAC12 didn't get into the CFP as the champ would be in the Rose Bowl. If the PAC got into the CFP, then the Vegas Bowl would get the #3 team after the CFP and the Rose Bowl.
For the SEC, it would be in the same grouping as the Houston, Liberty, Music City, Belk, Gator, etc. They're supposed to be "equal" and the conference places the teams.
So yeah, you could have 8-4 Arizona vs. 7-5 Arkansas.

Well the PAC has never made the CFP so #1 or #2 team as it says outside of CFP in the article above.
SEC will send the best team for the biggest bowl.
