Feel like getting drafted doesn’t equal developing NFL talent either.

And they are given far too much credit for "developing" talent. They recruit NFL talent and some pay a lot of damn money for them.

I'd like to see programs consistently win championships & " develop" NFL players without the constant stream of 4/5 star players.

Had L Fournette,Julio Jones,Patrick Peterson ,etc....gone to Grambling they would be NFL talent.

The explanation is good enough I guess.

The summary chart is pretty useless without it.

They should do a % that make final 53 man rosters.

The real "development" metric should be the percentage of lower ranked recruits that were drafted.

Why stop at 247?

These programs aren’t getting credit for their best development jobs.

It should at least be considered. These charts are more of a "who doesn't blow their talent" more than development of talent.

It doesn't.

There is a documented halo effect for getting drafted. Big time schools with several high draft picks often have more players drafted that otherwise wouldn't be just from visibility from the scouts going to their workouts and reviewing film.

And a lot of top recruits don't develop much in college at all, but have ridiculous raw skills and destroy the combine so they're drafted high.

So two things:

1. They shouldn't look at the players drafted, they should look at players that make a 53 man roster.

2. They should then cut that analysis several ways, most notably look at schools with the highest percentage of LOW LEVEL recruits that end up making 53 man rosters. This would show true development.

Even that doesn't necessarily speak to how well a program develops someone. Maybe the kid was a late bloomer physically, or the program has an eye for talent. I think the latter is the case with Clemson.

They put more talent into the NFL than the 247 rankings say they should. They must have some exceptional talent evaluators in their program. Talent evaluation is such an underrated aspect of recruiting.

Everyone can pick out the guy that's obviously gifted, but finding the diamond in the rough, the guy that may be a year away from developing into the 5* guy is where you really gain an edge.

Shows just how bad of a coach Muschamp really was.
7 of our starters on offense from 2011 and 2012 are still in the NFL.

Shows how bad Clay Helton really is.

USC is currently 3rd on the list of active NFL players in the NFL (and #1 all-time) but hasn't been producing quality the last couple of years.

Most of the USC players in the NFL have been there 5+ years.

In 2017, USC was #2 behind #1 LSU...and then Clay Helton happened and Alabama leapfrogged Florida, Miami and USC from 5th place to #2 last year.

And when we start CFB seasons with the Top 25 and argue who should have made the Top 25...

Just remember, they say almost 50% of NFL players come from just 18 schools. - Business Insider.

So every year there are basically very few teams that have a realistic shot at winning the Mythical National Title.
