As a Red Sox fan he hurts me to say this but they’re on their way back and I wish Josh the best.

Lotta cautious people in the know on here, but from my perspective (casual follower) yesterday went well for LSU.

Hampton and Doughty both looking like Tigers and looking good for Cairo and Phillips.

I suspect Lewis is gone like an earlier poster mentioned. Likely not taken there if a signing risk.

Wanna see our current players like Hess, Dups, Watson, etc. fly off the board today.

I agree. Some of the baseball prospect people I follow on Twitter were trying to say we had a bad day yesterday, but we haven't lost anyone that wasn't expected and we got a huge piece in the fold.

I know this was mentioned by some of the beat writers yesterday, but I was saying it for the last couple weeks: we can afford to lose pitchers to the draft this year because we had such a haul last year. We won't need to rely on any newcomers to claim a spot on the weekend. They can all be eased in.

Exactly. If Walker comes back, that would make four legit starters, with still having Hilliard for long relief/spot starts.

Agree 100%

Henry
Marceaux
Hill
Walker

We are set for next year, if all 4 are healthy I see Walker moved to long relief.

I agree (Marceaux, Henry, Walker, and hopefully a healthy Hill). Strong line up.

Is Phillips the best of the pitchers that may end up at LSU as of now?

A little surprised to only see 2 LHP coming in but hopefully Mcmurray will be ready to roll next year.

If he's not selected in round 3-4 today then yes he could fall and would be the best arm of this class.

LSU still has a long way to go today.

Probably. I don't think we're out of the woods on him and Cairo yet though.

Based on the 4 players already drafted being expected to sign, and the reasonable expectations of currently players to be drafted and sign (Hess, Watson, Peterson), we are currently at 41/35.

This could be one of the lowest forced attrition years in a while, which sets us up very well for next year.

Most teams can probably still get into seven figures here in the third round on high school guys with a couple likely able to get over two million depending on how they have spent or plan to spend their money today. Not out of the woods yet.

I have a question about the slot values, as it pertains to seniors getting drafted. Say someone takes Duplantis in the 3rd with a slot value if 750k. Let's say he signs for 500k, because of the lack of leverage. Does that team get to use the remaining 250k on other draft picks? Or is that 250k dead money? I know previously they could, but did that also change with the new rules?

Essentially, the slot value is the recommendation, but the total bonus pool can be apportioned however they want.

In your example, if someone took Duplantis with a 750k slot, they'd realistically have about 725k to spread among their other top ten round picks and bonuses over 125k for picks in rounds 11-40.

Yes for players that undersign value (and many do) the teams can oversign on the others.

We aren’t totally out of the woods on Mo Hampton yet. Someone can still draft him and throw the bag at him. You just never know. Turang got well over a lot value last year I think

Project,

Assuming Garza, Mathis, Bianco, Willis and Beloso all on team next year. And Travinski and Torres join.

How do you project 1B, Catcher, and DH positions....
Just wondering how these people stack up.

Garza would be the starting Catcher

Beloso would probably be first in line at 1B

Willis' defensive position may depend on how his shoulder heals up. He could be a corner OF or even 3B (I'd at least like to see it tried).

Bianco will be a utility guy and DH.

Mathis, Torres, and Milazzo will back up at Catcher.

Travinski could shift to 1B/DH/OF.

It's a good problem to have.

If we have Torres and Milazzo, is there a chance Mathis gets 'processed'?

This is what I was thinking, we would have a ton of catchers, Mathis would never play.

Also, kind of weird to bring up, but what about the older Doughty brother? If Cade comes in no way they tell him to leave, right? But Braden has to be one of those guys on the cut line being just a bullpen catcher basically.

There is always a chance, but I wouldn't really want to see it happen. There shouldn't be a need to process many players, but I guess pretty much anyone is an attrition candidate.

He has been decent behind plate lately, but I was wondering if defensive wise there wouldnt be a better option. Obviously you want his bat in lineup so he'd be somewhere but you think overall he'd still be best catcher option?
