I really, really want to get a 2020 Kia Telluride for the wife but I can't get past the Kia brand and my idea that it's a shitty brand. I've read some things online that claim Kia is not what it used to be and that it's quite reliable now but I just don't know what to believe. For all I know, Kia could've paid the author to write the article I read.

I'm sure there are many on here who know more about cars than I do so please tell me. Is Kia a reliable vehicle on par with Toyota and Honda or would you rather stay away?

TIA

I think their quality is actually very good. The Telluride looks pretty good too.

Quality is more important than reliability. Reliably poor performing cars are just that, reliably poor.

I've heard nothing but GREAT things. Plus, that Telluride looks fricking sexy. If only they would make the KIA logo less kia-e and not as distinguishable lol

I've read that it really depends on the model.

They still make shitty small sedans/coupes but the larger products (other than minivan) seem to be on par with midmarket competitors

My wife is going to need a new vehicle next year and I'm really leaning towards the Telluride as of now.

Tried going look at one last weekend and the dealer said they didn't have any because they were selling as soon as they got them.

I personally wouldn't buy a Kia because it's a Kia

They have a 10 year 100k mile warranty. I would assume you are safe with their vehicles.

There was one behind me the other day and I thought it was a range rover then it passed me and it was a fricking kia. Good looking car besides the kia logo.

How far did they have to go?

Kia has been a solid company for a while now.

Get past the Kia brand stigma...it is not the Kia of 15 yrs ago. Them and Hyundai have earned their seat at the table with the rest of the typical mid level car makers

Whoever designed that thing deserves a raise because everyone is talking about it.

I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Kia vehicles from actual owners over the past 5 years or so. That Telluride and one of their sedans look damn good.

Like others here, I'm not sure I'm over the stigma the brand had early on.

I just bought one on Saturday. It two weeks to get in cause they are selling fast. In my city we only have 3 car dealerships and the next closest are 300 miles away. Lots of people drive Kia’s for that reason and they have always been reliable.
If there were plenty of dealerships I think I might still have bought the telluride. I picked it over some other popular stuff.

I’ve had two optimas, a 2010 and a 2015. Put 130k miles on the 2010 before I traded it in and was up to 90k on the 2015 before I traded that one in. Never ever a single issue. Def great vehicles.
