On my old Jeep, there is a heavy strap that runs across the door opening (that wouldn't do anything to keep someone from bouncing out). No seat belts (and never had any doors).
Only goes about 45 mph tops but it is fun to drive. It is also surprising how cool it is under the canvas top during the summer (as long as there is some breeze). My long-haired border collie used to ride in the back without any problems.

The Xterra was one of only a handful of true body on frame SUVs out there. They could go just about anywhere a Wrangler could, but of course Nissan discontinued them.
