In the scorching Saturday afternoon heat, country music fans began gathering in the shadow of Tiger Stadium to spend their Memorial Day weekend tailgating and listening to their favorite artists.
The concert inside the stadium was scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., with headliner Kenny Chesney set to take the stage at 10 p.m. But some attendees arrived early to make the most of the day

Her husband, Dwayne LaFleur, agreed. Though the couple has attended the event for almost ten years, they skipped the second year that the fest was held in New Orleans. “Even though it’s inside over there, it’s more of a party right here,” Dwayne said.

The blistering temperatures in the 90s and blazing sun took a toll. By 4:30 p.m. on Saturday 15 people outside the stadium had been treated and released for heat-related problems, said Justin Cox, Acadian Ambulance spokesman. Some 19 Acadian Ambulance medics and an army of volunteers through Tiger Medical Group were on hand to help those who found themselves in distress. Cox blamed the combination of heat, alcohol consumption and not eating enough food for the heat-related emergencies.
Seems like a good time except for the heat.

If you're fat it's a problem

Sounds like a good event. Just late in the year for that in Louisiana.

I am pretty sure skinny folk will have problems if they dont drink alcohol and no h2o and barely eat as well.
But continue that dumb rhetoric

I know the school makes a good bit of money off this but I don’t like holding non LSU football related events in Tiger Stadium.

FGL killed it last night. Best concert I’ve ever been to.
My buddy that stayed said Kenny Chesney was ok.

I was there, that photo looks shopped. There wasn’t close to that many people in the stadium at any point last night.

Country Rap is a really big draw.

Went last night, wasn’t nearly that packed, we went in for FGL and Kenny and there was a nice breeze actually, was surprised it wasn’t melt your face off hot

I think you are underestimating how many people live in Livingston and ascension parishes

Kinda looks more packed because of people standing. I thought it was funny how fast Broome existed the stage! Hahahaha

Y’all bash this concert festival a lot on here, but you’re in the minority. It’s actually a fun time and an enjoyable experience. Downvote away all you want.

Which is odd since the overwhelming majority of people on this board along with other public opinions are completely against “bro country” and what country music has become.

They get better turnouts in BR because:
1. They market it better in BR. There was far LESS advertising for it when it was in New Orleans.
2. It’s closer to the fanbase. Most of the people who like shitty bro-country live a lot closer to BR than they do New Orleans
3. They booked more popular acts in Baton rouge.
