Why do people keep saying GOT is "unpredictable" and "doesnt do what people want it to do"

regarding the backlash? Stuff didnt just come put of left field in GOT (ie. Vamps in From Duck Till Dawn).
The 2 major instances people believed this to happen wes Ned's execution and the Red Wedding. Well look back n those 2 things.
Ned was making bad decisions the whole season, it was warned on screen multiple times about bad things happen to Starks in the south. What made it impactful was the audience thinking "No way they kill off this main character, because who else do we follow." It wasnt out of the blue they killed Ned.
And the Red wedding, again while it was a very shocking scene, it wasnt out of the blue. Walder was known to be untrustworthy. Cat even warned Robb to hurry up and break bread, thinking that even Walder wouldnt hurt them if they broke bread. So they and the audience knew something bad could happen there. The shock, again, came from the disbelief of it actually happening on screen and "who else" to follow now.
These are examples of great writing. Examples of bad writing are the instances that D&D decides they couldnt even film and put on screen(Arya and Sansa reaction, Unsullied reaction).
What happened in season 8 was crap that came out of left field for shock and awe..... which is not what GOT is.
Im still kinda shocked people are taking up for these crap.

We all agree it was clunky and rushed. The writing at times was terrible.
However, it is a stretch to say, looking back, that the main plot points “came out of left field”
-Arya killing the NK was built up in the show for several seasons
-The tension of Dany snapping was built up in the show since season 1
-Jon killing Dany was really the only option left and was predicted by many so obviously it was no surprise
-Bran becoming king makes sense when you realize he set all this in motion Dr Strange style the whole time (I could step you through this)

quote:no it was. She was built up to kill the queen. Not the NK. She had NO ties to that story line other than being Jon's sister. She wold have been better suited to kill Cersie or Dany.
-Arya killing the NK was built up in the show for several seasons
quote:lol no it wasnt. she had a temper but nothing to that affect.
-The tension of Dany snapping was built up in the show since season 1
quote:i have never seen this as "being out of left field so idk why you are bringing this up.
-Jon killing Dany was really the only option left and was predicted by many so obviously it was no surprise
quote:you remind me of Oweo with how highly you think of yourself. on the topic, it really doesnt make sense. Yes he set it all up, and when you think of it like that he is the main villain. Yet the show doesnt make it come off like that.
-Bran becoming king makes sense when you realize he set all this in motion Dr Strange style the whole time (I could step you through this)

No it wasn't.

No.

Yes it was - you are just too obtuse to see it now
EXAMPLE: No one, servant of death, who becomes the dead kills the king of the dead with the very dagger Bran gave her under the tree she killed the NK
And nice quote of HALF my statement about Bran. It makes sense if you see his character as plotting it while having ALL knowledge ala Dr Strange

Bran being king is retarded in the context of the story, yes. The execution of making it happen was even more retarded.

Yes, I'm too stupid to understand. Especially since the morons that wrote this show have basically said it wasn't Jon only because it was too predictable.
But sure, clue me in into all the rich history Arya had with the NK that makes her killing him make sense.
ETA And as for this:
quote:
And nice quote of HALF my statement about Bran.
It makes no sense because just a couple episodes ago Bran explicitly says he doesn't want. No lands, no title, nothing.

I've never understood why people still think it's cool to be a contrarian.
People were bitching about how predictable some episodes were, then turned right around and complained about stuff coming out of left field.
90% of this board made up their mind to hate the season before it even started.
Hell, there were threads pre-bitching about episodes days before they happened.

Defending this season is the contrarian viewpoint, so...

Just finished season 1 again and in no way did I think Dany would hold innocent people responsible for Cerseis and the Lannister evil. In fact it was the opposite.
Her excuses were so bad that even Jon had to end it all: she used mercy against us!
So, her logic is to kill and burn the entire city as punishment to those responsible for her anguish.
Next time someone does me wrong I'll make sure to punch the person next to them.

I’m not “taking up for them”.
They were horrible at times. I’ve started thread directly attacking them.
HOWEVER, saying the writing is bad, rushed, and clunky is far different than saying “this came out of left field”, “there was nothing showing a change in character A”, “The didn’t build this up AT ALL”
That’s just overreactionary bitching

Dude, just go back and read your posts the last several weeks. You say you aren't, but you absolutely are. Hell, just in this thread you're saying I'm too obtuse to see something that I'd bet you don't even actually believe.

J&C could have moved 5 feet over and survived

There's the reason these idiots are going off like it's the worst thing ever captured to film.

They didn’t even know it was her until they started writing season 8. Gtfo.
