this season was bad (with tonight's terrible finale it may be worst than last season, which is sayin something)
but you have to go all the way back to season 5 to start fixing it
again, you have to start with Dorne
you also can't have Cersei destroy the political angle that made the show so good
you also probably need young Griff to be introduced (which means Varys has to change drastically in season 5)

Ending would have been hella better to me if Bran's eyes were blue in final frame, he turned when night king touched him. He warged Drogon, did the killing to make Jon turn on and kill Dany. Dany didn't want to seem like she couldn't control her dragon. They never showed her face since she took off for red keep

GW marches prisoner Jon out in front of the unsullied/dothraki armies for execution. Jon is down on his knees, GW readies his sword -- IN comes Arya for the rescue, but she is captured. Now the unsullied are holding her, forcing her to watch just as in Season 1 with Ned. Things look grim. GW makes a move but outta nowhere BOOM, Drogon swoops in and starts lighting shite up.... that's all I got

Long night:
More characters die in fitting ways. Bran wargs and does something to have an actual effect on the NK's death. Northerners hail starks as savior's being that John, arya, and Bran kill the NK. Dany just burned some people.
after long night:
2 dragons live
1. The people segregate over John and Dany
2. She orders a band of Northerners unwilling to kneel to her burned
3. John tries to stop her, and takes control of one dragon (Proof of Heritage)
4. Dany goes even more mad seeing that she's not the only one who can control dragons
5. Dany wins as John just can't do what he must do and tries to tame her.
6. Tyrian was working with John, and after John's death, Dany orders his death
7. But at Varys style execution, Tyrion doesn't burn.
8. The mad kings true heir emerges, and due to his readings at the wall and the citidel, he screams "veraculous" and the dragon swallows Dany whole.
9. Varys explains why tyrion is a Targaryen through whispers hes heard and why he'd been helping tyrion tye whole time.
10. The last Targaryen then flies over KL, and you see the fear in Cersi eyes with the imp on the dragon.
11. Imp on throne, varys his hand.

I don’t get paid millions to write endings that actually do characters and series’s justice, But yeah give me 1/10th of their salary and a week and I’ll come up with a better ending.

How about any number of endings that were in line with the general, ongoing tone and tenor of the show?
It was a dark and unforgiving story that deserved an ending that wasn't decided in front of a hollywood focus group.

Dany has to die. Jon stabs her... pulls sword out and it burst into flames thereby anointing him as the Prince Who Was Promised.
Drogon accepts Jin as his new king.
Jon reluctantly takes the throne and then frees the 7 kingdoms to each rule themselves.
