LINK with a survey monkey poll that allows people to comment
YouTube Video from Superintendent (comments disabled)
Basically, they're going to police any hate speech or PERCEIVED hate speech outside of school hours related to anything including sexual orientations, race, gender, etc etc etc. Hoover City Schools will soon be the next Birmingham City Schools.
I reported this on that website setup by the Trump administration about social media censorship.
ETA: Hoover Sun added a poll also. LINK

More than 80% of respondents to a poll conducted by Hoover Sun and 280 Living say they do not support a proposal that would allow Hoover school officials to levy serious discipline for students for off-campus conduct or speech, even if it substantially disrupts a school setting.

So basically they can expel you from school if you and your bro are DM'ing each other making fun of some tranny kid at school. They are basically policing your PRIVATE LIFE and your PRIVATE THOUGHTS. fricking 1984 up in here.

How does a publicly funded school get around the first amendment?

There's a thread about it. Don't have it on me right now.

I’m serious, if my child was in the Hoover school district, I’d be going up there and raising holy hell on those tyrants.

Her argument is that because hate speech outside of school affects instruction, then it’s in the school system’s jurisdiction to set policy for consequences.
What a load of shite and terrifying to think about the federal government using similar reasoning for enacting restrictions on free speech.

I think we're going to pull our's out of school. Will vote against anyone in office who supports this and support any lawsuit challenging this ruling.

It's hard to imagine how this line of reasoning flies. Literally everything a kid does out of school affects their instruction.

Hoover schools have been on a downward turn for a while. I would sell and get out before it gets worse.

I thought they were going to turn it around when they announced the new career center, but nah. I guess we'll just cater to the lowest common denominator.

Public school problems.

This is like watching a horror flick and people are screaming, "don't go into the basement!"
They are going to need a full time to staff to deal with all of the problems they are about to bring upon themselves.
If you undertake such a responsibility, you take on a duties they can't possibly handle.
Not to mention the legal problems they face even if they did it "right."

Virtue signaling has no bounds when it's being paid for by taxpayer dollars.

This has been happening a lot. The make it fall under the "student conduct" booklet they sighed. At least in NTX

Don't sign it and file suit. If they attempt to prevent your child from attending school hit them with ANOTHER suit. The school's going to lose.

This is in response to the video of the Spain Park High students that got out last fall of them saying very racist shite at a house party. Spain Park is a Hoover school.
System got embarrassed so now they’ve been goaded into this overreaction.
