Got the alert that Ivey signed it into law.

LINK

quote:

”Today, I signed into law the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, a bill that was approved by overwhelming majorities in both chambers of the Legislature. To the bill’s many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians’ deeply held belief that every life is precious and that every life is a sacred gift from God.

“To all Alabamians, I assure you that we will continue to follow the rule of law.

“In all meaningful respects, this bill closely resembles an abortion ban that has been a part of Alabama law for well over 100 years. As today’s bill itself recognizes, that longstanding abortion law has been rendered “unenforceable as a result of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade.”

bullshite.

An honest discussion with people, especially religious men from the south, who are against abortion is not possible because their entire predicate is based on absolute definitions that are not based in reality. They are the libtards of the religious right.

If you are raped and are not on contraception, there are pills you can take that can prevent conception.

You mean that same contraception that some states have tried to make it increasingly more difficult to obtain?

Y’all are ridiculous.

All the Dem candidates are underwhelming and I've wondered how the fragmented Democratic base was going to bridge the enthusiasm gap in 2020. Alabama has done it for them.

It’s absolutely not. This action by Alabama is in direct result of other states (New York and Virginia) going the opposite direction. It’s not even a law I particularly even agree with because I’m in the life begins at heartbeat camp, so this is a bit extreme.

bullshite.

My whole entire deal in this thread is that there are people using an issue like rape as a catalyst for abortion. Bad shite happens, I get it. That’s the exception, not the rule. If you’re for abortion then be for it. If you’re against it then be against it. I was at least trying to put forth solutions that didn’t involve abortion. So downvote away.

The whole point is for it to get blocked. That's why it was written the way it was.

That is the very definition of delusion. Hence, an honest discussion cannot be had. Your foundational premise is out of whack with the real world.

ETA: by the way, since you are so opposed to abortion for "moral" reasons, how many children born from unwanted pregnancies have you adopted? I'll hang up and listen.

It is not a "baby" being "murdered" because some cells pump coagulant. Take those cells out of the womb at let's say week 8 of a pregnancy and tell me that's a "baby."

Blame this on the Dems. They overreached in NY and VA.
