I’m sorry your loved one got killed leaving the McDonalds, but if everyone did that there’d be “somebody died here stuff everywhere”.

So, how long is too long? As you can see from the pic, there’s been some work put into that one. Looks like it’s there for the long haul.

How long should burial plots be used? People from 50 years ago aren't going to missed amirite?

The memorial for the guy I ran over on the train was maintained for over 7 years.

Got rather tired of seeing it every trip.

why do you give a shite? Unless this is somehow inconveniencing you I don't see why you would care about someone putting up a memorial for a loved one

They pay for that spot. I’ve never understood the need for a second one.

This is slightly different than a grave.

I know someone who lost a son in a vehicle accident and they erected a cross. They’re explanation was that everyone who talked to them would eventually ask “Now where exactly did it happen?”. They got tired of reliving the story so they put up the memorial. It came down after a few months though. I think the hwy dept mowed it over.

There are several along airline Hwy between Sorrento and Blind River. I don’t understand them really. As long as you know where it happened why does everybody else care.

But George Strait wouldn’t have been able to write a song about it

I'm actually going to say one year....however, you must apply for a permit and pay a small fee, in addition to posting a $ 100.00 removal bond. If at the end of one year you remove it, you get your bond back. IF you do not remove it, the bond is forfeited and goes to the DPW of the municipality that is charged with removing it.

The memorial must likewise meet certain guidelines
( ie cannot obstruct line of sight, traffic, construction materials etc).

I am against the willy nilly setting them up

Never understood why these bother people. Keep them up as long as you're grieving, it doesn't affect me negatively at all.

If there's some nice flowers Larry David will take care of it.

A little over 15 years ago, my nephew was killed when his car ran off the road into the woods. He was on his way home late at night after working a double shift and fell asleep at the wheel. Every year his parents visits the spot where he died and places flowers next to the tree that ended his life. The landowner told them they can visit whenever they please.
