No sir!
Congress has the right to ask the Courts for authorized release of 6e material.
This congressional research service briefing even discusses the various ways the exceptions could potentially apply to congress and the legal basis for them.
Federal Grand Jury Secrecy: Legal Principles and Implications for Congressional Oversight
So don’t pretend this is clearly an illegal command when neither law itself or the subsequent cases have not made a clear determination. In fact, none of legal experts in any of the branches of government appear to have a clear understanding one way or the other, yet apparently a physician on a message board does,

“to government personnel,” and “intelligence and national security information to government officials.”
Your source is clear: "Nevertheless, the rule of grand jury secrecy is subject to a number of exceptions, both codified and judicially crafted, that permit grand jury information to be disclosed in certain circumstances (usually only with prior judicial authorization)."
This is a case where Judicial Authorization IS REQUIRED.
It has not been attained. Nadler has not even made the request of the Courts, probably because he knows what their answer would be.
Instead, Nadler is insisting on UNAUTHORIZED release of the material by the USAG, which would be a crime.
To use your words, "this is clearly an illegal command."

I "think" both are examples of hack politicians just being the partisan hacks that so many love when they are hacking it up on their side.
SO - an oversight committee seeking information a about how a disastrous, possibly illegal, policy = Fast & Furious = that resulted in the death of a US Law enforcement can be stonewalled and ignore subpoenas. = no problem
BUT - a totally stupid request - devoid of ANY valid purpose except political advantage - demanded that the AG break the law by revealing Grand Jury information to the DEMOCRAT operatives, MUST be honored or be arrested, ALL THE WHILE the information being DEMANDED is available in full in a SECURE location (where a leak can be traced) - and NOT ONE Democrat has bothered to look at it, meanwhile the minimally redacted version is available to the PUBLIC.
This is not an equivalent in the least.

Nadler requested that the Department reconsider its refusal to allow all Members of Congress and appropriate staff to view redacted portions of the report in a secure location, not including the grand jury material.

Nadler asked that the Department work jointly with Congress to seek a court order to provide grand jury material.

at least 2 decisions have ruled that Congress as the authority to review it:
And the Circuit Court where Congress sits says no.
Also, since Barr was under no obligation to provide a copy of the report to Congress under the law N he certainly has the authority to redact information from that report when it is produced.

to view redacted portions of the report in a secure location, not including the grand jury material.
Right now, this very second, Nadler has personal access to a version of the Mueller Report with only 6e redactions in place. Instead of studying that version, last Friday Nadler subpoenaed the Justice Department for the full, unredacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller's report as well as every letter of every word of underlying evidence.
I don't know what your source was/is; but if it claims Nadler is not demanding Barr release all 6e material, your source is uninformed.
The subpoena, as well as Nadler's own description of it, speaks for itself.

quote:Apparently you misread it then. It clearly states top-line and bolded "Contempt report focus is on failure to produce unredacted Mueller report and underlying materials." In other words, given the release of the fully unredacted report (except for 6e materials) to authorized Congressmen, Congress is nonetheless threatening to charge the USAG with contempt for following the law.

But, but, Nadler’s belt has super powers. So beware.
He got it from Pooty Tang.

...and this is why Barr needs to arrest Nadler. If a street cop threatened to send someone to jail for NOT committing a crime. The street cop would be arrested for abuse of power or some other crime similar.

Welcome to Trump crazy world, where anyone who could be remotely perceived as critical of Trump, even if they work for Trump, should be put in jail.

Sorry that you don’t want the law to be applied to everyone...

Have you actually counted the number of people who have criticized Trump?
There are millions.
...and out of those millions ONE FOOL in Congress is trying to pressure a US citizen, who happens to be the US AG, into committing a crime.
This Congress person should be put in jail just like any other person who tries to force someone to commit a crime.
Pelosi, Schumer, AOC, Maxine, etc ALL have mercilessly criticized Trump.
Who is calling for them to go to jail?
...That's right ! No one.
IF they try to force someone to commit a crime, or they commit a crime, then they too should be arrested, just like HRC. OH! WAIT! She did commit crimes but Nobama's AG did not want to prosecute. This is abuse of power and dereliction of duty.

It's just not that much of a stretch to say that if Barr were to relent and give Nadler et al the unredacted 6e material...Nadler turns right around and sends a criminal referral to DOJ for Barr's prohibited disclosure of same.

They want to arrest him for not breaking the law, then once he breaks the law they will want him arrested. They will use either scenario as a reason he should resign.
There are no honorable democrats in Congress.

Not a doubt in my mind. Nadler already pulled some similar dirty bullshite by immediately chirping that Trump waived any and all exec priv regarding anything not redacted in the previously released version of Mueller Report.....that he demanded.
