Jamal Adams went off though. I don’t know if they are ranking by career or by current form

Imagine recruiting guys to be safeties and saying our last two safeties are top 10 NFL draft picks...

Nope, he's had injuries (only played 16 games once in 4 seasons) and his counting stats are more impressive than his actual play. PFF has him leading the league in tackles broken from 2015-2017.

He's still a good player, just not top 10 when compared to all those guys IMO

It's hard to argue with this. There was a stretch where he was uncoverable, and he did it while everyone knew who Eli was throwing to.

I'd say Ohio State has the best quality currently, but it's not much higher.

That list is awful. Tre White has had two straight seasons of being a shut down corner and is easily a top 10 guy. Jarvis ahead of Odell is bad as well.

Tier 1:
1) Pat Pete
2) Odell

Tier 2:
3) Tre White
4) Jamal Adams
5) Danielle Hunter
6) Whitworth
7) Trai Turner

Tier 3:
8) Debo
9) Jarvis
10) Mathieu

Just missed:

Fournette- Love the guy, but his injuries and uneven production have affected his status in the league. Hopefully the Jags investment in Foles and offensive line will give him more room to run

agree with this 100%

Who was then? There’s a pretty big consensus who feel like Jamal is becoming the best safety in the league...

Earl Thomas
Harrison Smith
Derwin James
Byard
Landon Collins
Eddie Jackson to name a few

You can’t be the best safety in the league when you have no ball skills

You honestley think like 10+ guys are better safeties than Adams? He’s top 5 without question. On your list alone he’s better than Harrison Smith, Landon Collins, Earl Thomas is old and was injured, and better than Byard. Derwin James and Eddie Jackson maybe not.

Tre' White should certainly be on the list. Runner-up rookie of the year and then still a shut down guy last year. I'd take Leonard out as he just has not matched the production relative to the other guys on the list

Adams had the 2nd best 2018 PFF grade among safeties and was ranked 20th overall in their top 101. He had an excellent year.

Adams plays a different position and role than Thomas, Smith, Byard, and Jackson. Ball skills are much less important when you aren't roaming centerfield

Which makes you a more limited, less valuable player.

I think Adams is great at what he does. He’s not the best safety in football tho.

I named 6. He & Collins are interchangeable

Earl Thomas had more INTs (3) in 4 games last year than Adams has in 32 games(1) lol

Adrian Amos was their 2nd ranked safety in 2017. That stuff can be so fluid.

While true, you can’t base everything on one stat.
