Do You Teach Your Kids to Say "Ma'am" or "Sir" As a Sign of Respect?

I still say "ma'am" and "sir" to my elders as a sign of respect. I've passed this practice on to my kids.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do...when in the South, say "Yes, ma'am."

This dude let a one off encounter when he was 19 affect his whole life. Real shame

"Pardon me Ma'am, why are you shitting in a bucket on your porch?"
That does sound more refined

Of course. It’s important to raise them to be respectful

Yes, I taught my children that courtesy and my grandchildren are respectful that way as well.

Without a doubt.
Ain’t nobody got time for Yankee kids.

Yup same with me and my children. Ma’am and sir all the time

I didn't endure switchings for saying "yup" as a kid only to not pass down the same manners.

We kids were taught it. My sister moved to Cleveland and taught her kids, before she moved. Apparently there, it is looked at as disrespectful. Not sure why? Different upbringing with cultural norms I guess.
Eta: I don't get it. To us it's what you do. There...no.

"I'm too young to be called sir/ma'am"
shite, I use sir and ma'am on children.

No, because my children have been taught not to assume anyone's gender.

I have 17 year old employees calling me by my first name. I don't tell them anything but I think it's disrespectful. As a business owner nearing 60, I would NEVER do that stupidity when I was a worker at any age. I think this generation has diff standards.

Is there anything as cringey as hearing a small kid calling their parents by their first name? What the frick is that shite.
