Topgolf was all set to go there and they pulled out. Had a change at the top and the new guy 86’d it. That wasn’t Jaeger’s choice.
Didn’t the Top Golf top dude go to work for Drive Shack?

Jaeger just comes across as a big cry baby at the end of the day.
He has called out the NOEHA when they deserve it, and they don’t like that because they think they’re untouchable. They are sitting on piles of cash and doing nothing with it except disrupting business on CCB with the linear park project, targeting competing private businesses, and refusing (until now) to distribute tax revenue equitably.
I have zero sympathy for them.

weird you didn't just say that instead of saying you thought a stadium should go there.
I mean my personal preference is a stadium on the river and a network of transportation to move people between there, the convention center and the quarter once the super dome is replaced in the future.
But regardless I don’t personally believe the last great parcel of land that the city can use to boost its ability to draw revenue should be a driving range.

Of course he doesn’t understand because he’s a kid. He doesn’t even have a drivers license yet.

So in return he gets millions of dollars in tax incentives to build a 1200 room hotel that’s not needed?

The debate has left the proposed hotel project — which would receive about $100 million in direct subsidies, plus other tax breaks — in limbo.
The proposed Omni hotel would have 1,200 rooms. The Bureau of Governmental Research, a critic of the project, has estimated the total value of the subsidies and tax breaks sought for the hotel at $330 million in today's dollars.

You're crazy because that would be a terrible idea
You think so???... seems like the obvious place to put it... unless you demolish the Superdome where else would it go

People actually think the Superdome going last forever... a stadium will be built there or the Saints won't be playing in New Orleans in 10 years

Would be incredibly short sighted.
Also Gayle Benson buying up all the buildings near the current location should signal they aren't moving.

Wait. You think the Saints are either moving cities or getting a brand new stadium in the next decade?
Lol

Look at the shitshow the Airport project is, can you imagine the shitshow a new stadium would be??

He doesn’t get those tax breaks. They go to the bottom line and reduce the cost of building and operating the project. The convention center will own the entire development, not the developers. The development team earns fees, and in any event he’s not on the team anymore.
Posted on 4/30/19 at 10:00 pm to Ice Cold
Without the tax breaks there is no project
With no project there’s no need for a developer
You don’t think by having those tax breaks in place didn’t benefit Jaeger?
That’s right. Like a spoiled brat, instead of fighting he took his ball, went home and called the teacher to tell the bullies to back down.

The Browns left Cleveland... the Oilers left Houston and so on.. it could happen ... I wouldn't be surprised if it's getting talked about now in certain circles... the NFL will eventually refuse to allow New Orleans to host a Super Bowl... so you think the Saints will be playing in the Superdome forever???

quote:The answer to your first question is no, he doesn’t get millions of dollars in tax incentives. The owner does, and he’s not the owner.
So in return he gets millions of dollars in tax incentives to build a 1200 room hotel that’s not needed?
Regarding your second, different question, do you know how projects of that scope are financed? Are you aware of the myriad ways state and federal governments incentivize development through tax programs?
If you don’t, then your questions reflect your ignorance. If you do, then your problems are with the system, not Jaeger.

Top Golf in New Orleans is dead now. JBE killed it.

Plans for a high-tech driving range near the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center are being “parked,” Gov. John Bel Edwards said Tuesday. “That’s not something we’re going to pursue right now,” he said in an interview. “We may or may not come back to it later.”

Something tells me the board isn’t finished futzing around with ideas for that parcel. I just don’t see the hotel moving forward as currently proposed.

Call me crazy but eventually I want a stadium on that land, not a driving range.
It can't be a driving range until it becomes a stadium?
