If Ed did in fact quit going to class it says a lot about who he is as a person.
I love my Tigers, but whenever a player quits at anything in life (football related or not), that’s a character flaw. Some people can overcome their flaws, but most can’t.
Compound that with pre-existing injuries and forget being drafted early, or at all.

If his kneee problems are as bad as I heard, he won't even make it through a training camp and a degree is literally his only fallback. He can forget about a labor job, he won't make it through it.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere on here that his grades were so bad that he would not have been academically eligible to play next year anyway. That and his knee problems meant he had to leave to get whatever he could get professionally.

He's been battling knee injuries since high school. On top of that, he's not lighting up the academic world either. Might as well go see if he can make a little money before the reality sets in.

Guess he wanted to take a shot at the draft to get some money instead of blowing his knee out his senior year and getting zero money
Except, he's not gonna 'get some money'
He was actually playing much better and more at the end of the year, he coulda built on that this year, and maybe he would have 'got some money'

Has anyone ever considered the possibility that these kids may leave early because they don’t exactly enjoy being at LSU or in college in general? Each situation is unique and not cut and dry.
How can someone not enjoy the college experience while being treated like a god?
If EA didn't like it, he shouldn't have been there in the first place.

as far as the no degree part he can rectify that EASILY. I worked my way through college and it was in an era of virtually NO government loans. he can borrow the money today. if he has any gumption he can get his degree and join the work force with the rest of us. I hope he is the type that doesn't make excuses that are just plain BS.
He doesn’t need loans.

You would think they would love it but there are so many variables to consider. They may hate class, don’t like a particular coach, etc. They have no choice but to play 3 years of college football before moving on to the next level so they may come in with the mindset of getting out as soon as they can. My point we have no idea because every situation is different for each kid.

it was now or never for him. Arthritic knees don't get better, they only get worse. Has NFL talent, if it don't work out he can always come back and finish his degree or go straight into the work force. Hope it works out for him in the NFL.

Got some real shitty advice
Ed has some deteriorating knee condition or something. He had to give pro a shot now and maybe make some money. Another year of college ball and it’s physical wear and tear, while not getting paid would not have helped his stock at all.

didn’t like college either, but I do enjoy my bachelors degree and current salary. It was well worth not being a cry baby for the rest of my life feeling sorry for myself or working a 70 hour labor job work week just to make ends meet.
Who the frick is crying about this other than you?

Knee wearing out.
Me acting as a GM for an NFL team, I’d say we take him in the first round so we can help him out.

probably because his family is poor and desperately needs the money just like several tigers have done the past few years and they don't even get drafted.

If this is common knowledge why would an NFL team draft him?

I doubt his knee is really that bad.
Thanks for your diagnosis, Dr. Partyboy M.D.

I think fans and posters on this board in particular need to do a better job compartmentalizing.
I personally don't care about how other fans brains work and whether a player going pro triggers them or not. But hey that's just me. I realize what other posters say severely affects people on here.

ITT lots of projective comments without having any idea about the who's and why's.
