Davenport was in his 1st year in NFL with a bad toe and still got 4.5 sacks. He was very disruptive in some games.
We still have 4 years at his current rookie salary. Where Clark will take up the salary of potentially 3-4 role players. If he gets hurt, Chiefs are still on the hook for his huge salary while still trying to find a capable substitute to pay and play.
I rather have the younger guy with a huge upside and less salary, than a guy going to a different defense system, more wear and tear , and higher salary.

Technically one pick is used on everyone drafted. We used Davenports pick and the one we traded. So yes, we used two but traded only one. This isn't rocket science.

I dunno how much this matters (different positions, different eras etc etc) but I checked out the rookie season stats for the top four Saints all time sack leaders... Rickey Jackson, Wayne Martin, Pat Swilling, and Will Smith
Jackson played 16 games and had 0 sacks (4.5 in season 2)
Martin played 16 games and had 2 sacks
Swilling had 4 sacks in 16 games
Only Will Smith had a bigger sack number (7.5) and he also played all 16 games
EDIT: Another way of looking at this is Davenport only played 2/3 of a season and had twice as many sacks as two of the all time great Saints sack leaders COMBINED

The net effect of this transaction is that the Saints lose two draft choices and gain one player. Is this analysis really a difficult thing to comprehend?
Did you ever take Economics in school? To put it in economic terms, the opportunity cost of the Saints drafting Davenport was the two players that the Saints could have chosen with the two draft choices if the choices had not been traded.
Also, the Saints did NOT trade one pick. The deal was that the Saints trade multiple picks and receive one in return.
I’m absolutely baffled by the number of people that just cannot understand this concept.

Saints could have added another Glenville boy in Frank Clark. Now, we're stuck with Davenbust and not much else.

Serious question...Who's been drafting Def players for the Seahawks the last 6-8 years? Cant just be Pete Carrol right?
How many top caliber Def players can 1 damn team stockplile?
They've traded or lost to FA more Pro Bowl caliber Def players the last several years than some teams have ever had.
