I'm guessing you are a newlywed?

6 months out the year. It gives them 6 months to miss me and 6 months to hate me. I’ve been doing it so long now I just come home and follow their routine. The wife doesn’t even like me getting the kids up for school bc I “break the routine”

I have a buddy who works out of time mostly.
His wife is exactly the same way.

When I leave they plot my overthrow.

6yo daughter isn’t crazy about fishing.
Daddy started taking me when I was about that age, and then all through grammar school during the summers. I remember watching by the front window for his pickup to pull into the driveway when he got home from work, hoping he would walk into the garage and come out again with two fishing poles and put them in the truck. Then I knew we were going fishing.

Exactly. Now I just make coffee and breakfast then keep my mouth shut. I definitely see how I mess it up so it’s all good with me.

My dad didn’t work offshore but worked shift work and it got to a point where he was trying to correct us for things we were too old for and mom had to finally tell him to stop breaking the routine.

I’m guilty of that. She told me one morning after I got them up and put the house in an uproar to just stay in bed the next day and watch. Sure enough she has them getting ready to a science. Little did I know they have times they do everything down to brushing their teeth. After that all I could do was realize she’s the glue that holds it together.

I have no real desire to be away from my kid for a few days. I like to go and drink a few beers maybe once a week, but it's usually after bed time. I feel bad missing things. Maybe when she's older.

I like being with my wife and kids.

Don’t listen to these people. I have a wonderful marriage and I get about 2-3 times a year of taking a 1-2 day guys weekend. We all live in different places now so this is how we catch up. In 2 weeks I’m headed to BR for the ole miss series. I’ll get there Friday night leave early Sunday morning. My wife’s one rule is that I need to make church Sunday morning at 10:45. As long as I do that I’m good. Now it’s not all the time but usually a couple times a year. We did it for the LSU-Miami game in September, great time and my wife was happy for me. All about your relationship.

The frick kind of question is this?
I look forward to leaving work BECAUSE I get to go back home to the family.

Few days...... I’ve gotten a few run out for a wedding and head back the next morning in 10 years. Honestly my kids are 4,4,and 7 and there’s waaaay to much fun going on with them. All potty trained, and the oldest still thinks I hung the moon.

Whatever you say--life changes things all the time.
I grew up in a family that did stuff mostly en masse, though, so for me it's kinda just normal life. I like it a lot.

You seem like a good guy so I won't wish you 2 teenaged daughters that sync up with your wife

That sounds like the 7th circle of hell right there
Hell, I'm petrified of baby #2 being a girl for that very reason

I only have one girl but had 2 sisters. It absolutely happens too. We usually go on a tuna charter out of Venice a few times per year. Let me know when you are ready
