It was time for a change but Coach didn't deserve to be treated the way he was.
Les was a great representative for this University. He brought some great times to LSU through the football team. The way his situation was handled was a disgrace. Also, the hate he receives on here is unnecessary, IMO. I think most people can admit a change needed to be made (I hope), and that's coming from one of his biggest supporters. However, how it was handled was horrible and the subsequent "search" was an embarrassment. And that's not a slight to O,it's just the truth.

Hands down how he handled the Les Miles situation. Everyone was ready to see him go after the A&M game. Instead, brainless can’t find the balls to do it and keeps him, robbing him of a proper sendoff, only to unceremoniously fire him 4 games into the next season. Then he targets exactly one guy, misses on him and quickly hires Orgeron before the news breaks that Herman is going to Texas to try and make it look like he didn’t miss on his guy, which he absolutely did.

If Alleva was a good and strong AD, he doesn't run Miles out like Muschamp at Fla or Sumlin at A&M, he treats the man with the respect he'd earned. You don't publicly lynch arguably the most successful coach in program history, you work behind the scenes and get him to "retire upward"- ironically to a position like the spot Alleva got for himself.
I don't blame Wade for not trusting Alleva, he saw how Alleva handled public unrest. Hopefully, Woodward is more effective at the job.

I think that Alleva had something to do with co defensive coordinators in 2008. I know he was behind the hiring of stud as offensive coordinator. Both of which put Les in a bind.
He also undermined O with Canada.
His actions concerning Wade were the worst. I don't know how people aren't any more angry than they are. Does anyone think that the team could've advanced more with their coach. Who knows but he should've been there.
I don't think that he had LSU athletics first in his mind.

Wait. You think he just allowed O to hire Steve.

Yes. Why would he object to it? Alleva wasn't coaching the football team so that hire goes to the HC of the football team. Like any football coach makes.
To be fair, O stated that he would go out and get "the best coordinators available."
He didn't have to be concerned with the DC, that was already taken care of by Miles.
He went and hired Canada after Pitt beat Clemson. This was O's decision.
Making Ensminger the permanent OC didn't take place until after Orgeron fired Canada for some reason. They didn't mesh, whatever the case may be but the Canada hire is on Orgeron.
I'm the last one that will purposely drag any coach's name through the mud but while I do think that Ensminger does his best, I can't say he's the best option. He's a Tiger always, no question about that but at the same time, is he the best option to cultivate the offense on this football team?
He was promoted from within. Again, he was on Miles' staff as the TE coach.
My point is that it doesn't seem like O wanted to have a search for a seasoned OC. Yes, he had been an OC before but it's been around 20 years since that time.
We'll find out in short order how the offense really looks when football season starts.

I think that there's a lot more to the story.
As far as the best coordinator. O tried to do that. Regardless that has all been worked out. Joe Brady will make an excellent coordinator.

I think both parties (Canada and O) couldn't, or wouldn't, put aside their differences. I've heard Canada is pretty much of a jerk to worth with but O did hire him, we did score on Alabama with him.
In any event, no point in talking about this up just to get aggravated but I really am praying that Ensminger has a great plan for this season.
We'll see a lot after the second game.
I'm hardly wishing they fail, (not saying your suggesting that).

I admire your optimism but I have to see it. I hear this every season. And maybe he'll come in and blow us all away. I'll be happy to give him credit but right now, I'm skeptical. Not saying we're going to be awful by any stretch of the imagination but for me personally, I need to see the offensive changes.

Well we know that Joe has taken over the passing game. We also know that he's got an exceptional grasp of the offense. I believe that the offense will be drastically improved. I also believe that Brady is being groomed for the OC position when Steve retires. At that point the coaching staff with Aranda and Joe as the two coordinators along with the phenomenal recruiting the staff is turning in will make LSU a tough team to beat.

Great to hear. Seriously.
For me, I still have to see it though. Been burned too many times.
It's more than the recruiting classes, which is nothing to blow your nose at, to be sure. But it's coaching too.
Can football season just get here already?

I can't tell you how much I need it to be here already. I've got a tough row to hoe to be here then. I can't believe that I'm actually that close. I was told that I had a lot longer awhile back.

It wasn’t until the Wade debacle that I felt he absolutely had to go and had to go now.
There has been too much negligence, dysfunction and incompetence displayed.
I wanted him the frick out of BR many years ago.
There's been the Johnson, (Over Bennett) Jones and Caldwell-Fargas hiring debacles, Aramark and the parking/tailgating restrictions.
Since I'm a Band Guy, (But definitely not one of the stereotypical Band Geeks) the ultra annoying/irritating PIM and the absolutely asinine/ludicrous attempt at trying to stop visiting Bands from performing at halftime in Tiger Stadium is at the top of my list. (Which lasted all of 2 weeks because of the national outcry) Another embarrassment for LSU.
Did I mention that LSU is the only school in the Southeastern Conference to not send their FULL Marching Band to at least one SEC away game, which is totally unacceptable. (And sure to change under Woodward)

This is the type of thing that Woodward will change immediately. E is a great guy, LSU to the core, but was clearly hired because Alleva wasn’t going to pay for another big-name OC after the Canada debacle. I believe Woody would’ve told O to get the best available, or fired him too. He wouldn’t have left him to win with one hand tied behind his back. Even Joe Brady, God bless him, is kind of a bargain bin attempt to upgrade our OC. I can see Woody pulling up to Lane Kiffin’s house with a check and a moving van, if he thought that was what we needed.
