I thought it was YEERO. Kinda like your last one but some people pronounce Euro like YURO so not that.

I feel like a douche saying "Yee row" so I say incorrect "Jy row" on purpose.

I have a Greek guy at work (actually from Greece) who says "JY-ro".

The pronunciation of gyro doesn’t matter enough to matter. Salmon on the other hand, its pronunciation matters.

Well let's break it down.
It's from Europe, so say it like "Euro". Simple as that.
But it's also from Greece, so pronounce the 'G' like in Greece.
The term 'gyro' actually has more Turkish roots than Greek, though, so give them some homage and really soften the g into a rolling 'j' sound.
Wrap all those pronunciations in a warm pita and you have your gyro.

Ving Rames says “yur-o” on the Arby’s commercial. So I’ll go with that. Wouldn’t want to upset him.

Greek families I know pronounce it like this.
