I'm glad they mentioned she's a white cis woman. I was wondering about that because its so important to this story.
So I guess all women now have to identify if they have been women since birth, or simply became a woman later in life?

While that may be true, ironically they are more likely to move more to the right.

So... all of the seats in TX that flipped from GOP to Dem last fall, that is due to ________?

I moved from my dying hometown to a dead town.

Yeah, my hippy sister lives in Portland, but born and raised in Baton Rouge.
She's usually on her high liberal horse until she spends about a week back home in Baton Rouge every Christmas. Then she remembers why people from the South are the way they are.
Caught her locking her car door when a democrat was walking next to us in traffic last time and had a hell of a time mocking her for that.

I’m from Opelousas and now live in NYC. Going to break the news to my wife tonight that it is time to pack up and move back home.
Maybe we can be neighbors. I bet there are a couple available houses in Park Vista.

Saw a few boarded up last time I was home. Sad to see. Had a lot of good memories running around that neighborhood.

I think a lot of them might be considered moderate or slightly right in California, which is equivalent to far left in Texas.
Texas political landscape is rapidly changing. Those mega rich oil baws better strap up and pay up to keep their way of life.

This sounds just like my sister
She's a left wing, pot smoking hippy that lives in Austin though

You serious Clark? I mean have you spent any amount of time in Austin in the past oh...ten years?

Maybe if I was from some idealic farm town in Minnesota. Some of us are from places with shitty school systems and high violent crime rates. I think I’ll spare my children that, but thanks.
yep. average small town in the south is a mixed hick/ghetto dump these days.

The ones moving to Austin are liberal for the most part.
Austin was liberal before they all moved there, but a different breed IMO...closer to a moderate liberal.

My hometown isn't dying. Just the opposite. Unfortunately this makes it entirely too attractive to the hipster locust swarm.
This is the conundrum in Texas. I see some of the crap in Austin heading toward San Antonio. I see those loft apartments rising on Broadway.
If your city is too good, it becomes a haven for the tech world, liberals, and everything else that makes the cost of living.
Why can’t they just gobble up real estate in places like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Toledo and revive those places? It would actually do the country a lot more good than continuing to destroy what’s left of San Francisco’s charm.

The Midwest definitely has it better but you might be surprised at what goes on in some of these towns. There are a lot more actually nice small towns in the midwesr though.

Educated white flight out of the small towns in Louisiana is a very real thing. Even in cities that have "decent" schools you have to subject your kid to a bunch of future welders and daquiri stand workers.

I guess I should move back to Bogalusa.
