There's absolutely no reason for us to be discussing slavery in 2019. Don't let Democrats suck you into their game.

Absolutely right. This is voter magnet for the left which will vanish after it serves its purpose. They've used it before for the same reason.

This.

It's just too tempting. Conservatives really do think they "go em" with this crap.

There are plenty of reasons to discuss American historical events.

Hell, I just found these facts to be interesting! I've NEVER thought anything would come of it. Imo, conversation of it from blacks would alienate them from the majority.

Which is said every time it rears it's head, and why we are having to talk about it in 2019

it's 2019, and i'm just now learning (not from this thread) there were free blacks in the south that owned blacked slaves. Kind of an important note that people that think like you have been able to hold out.

it's key we separate racism, and slavery this inning of the game the dems are sucking us into.

To the OP: Only thing I remember from TX history in 7th grade regarding slavery was the Ponce de Leons negro slave Esteban was the first in the Americas.

Maybe we should tell all the illegal immigrants that they will have to pay reparations for their Spanish ancestors doing africans wrong. See if that helps them go back.

If we absolutely should not be discussing slavery in 2019, why must we have those hideous statues of those that died defending it?
