Southern Poverty Law Center The hate group that gets to define all other hate groups

Townhall
Why is this one group, which is itself a hate group, allowed so much power and the right to define other groups as hate groups?
They work closely with social media platforms to label and ban all content that they deem as hate speech.
And you can guess which groups and individuals they are against. Yep, anything mildly conservative.
Groups like this are effectively silcencing all opposition voices, and are making criminals out of conservatives that only want a right to have differing opinion.

Sadly, the Southern Poverty Law Center has more than lost its way. The going astray from the original mission can be traced back to 1986, when most of the organization resigned, except founder Morris Dees, when Dees turned the focus of the group to strictly monitoring hate groups. The list of hate groups has kept getting longer and longer while our nation has become more tolerant of those who are different. In March 2013, the publication Foreign Policy ran an expose on the methodology of SPLC’s listing of hate groups, noting that SPLC counted many groups several times. The overall impression from SPLC’s list is designed to make Americans believe that America is a nation filled with racism, sexism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, and every other form of hatred that the conservative cause specifically disavows.

SPLC’s senior leadership is shameful. It uses its past legacy of fighting against racism to add legitimacy to their evolving agenda of hatred towards the large number of Americans who hold conservative and religious values. In 2010, SPLC added the conservative Family Research Council to its list of hate groups. In early 2015, SPLC added Dr. Ben Carson to its list of hate groups.

Poverty Law is a very specialized field. Not just anyone can be poor.

They label opposition groups as hate groups, then force the social media entities to deplatform them and companies like PAYPAl to stop doing business with them, essentially driving them out of business.

SPLC is listed as a 501c non profit entity. This status should be taken away immediately. They need to pay taxes due to their political stances.

They list the Family Research Council as a hate group but not ANTIFA! That's all you have to know about them.

SPLC leadership all had to resign because they were doing bad stuff to female employees. #metoo is a bitch

The SPLC makes millions of dollars by labeling groups as hate groups, so it stands to reason that they have a financial incentive to make sure that list grows.

That’s because SPLC is basically a very effective scam organization that uses images of white-bedsheeted people and, now, Donald Trump policies, to scare donors into sending them piles of money. Trump-mongering has been very good for business. The organization’s latest IRS form, from 2017, shows that “Gifts, grants, contributions, membership fees” to SPLC almost tripled, from $50,297,653 in 2015 — already a huge amount — to $132,044,179 in 2016, of course the year Trump ran and won the presidency. Investigative reporters and actual anti-hate-crimes groups say SPLC is largely a shell organization that uses masterful marketing techniques to rake in big-time profits for its staff, especially founder Morris Dees.

It would be like reading the pravda to get the scoop on entities that are misleading the public.

That's mean.
Just because they voted against freeing the slaves, supported Jim Crow, and founded the Klan doesn't neccesarily make you a hate group. Does it?
SPLC is racist trash. I despise anyone associated with them.
