Jamie Dixon is a good coach. He took over a program that went 8-64 in the 4 years before him and won the NIT, made the tournament, NIT semis. He can’t get what he needs to really compete in the Big 12 at TCU.

this would be an odd move.

TCU seems to be committed to their sports programs and coaches. Their successful coaches don't seem to leave. Patterson, Schlossnagle have been approached numerous times by bigger programs and have stayed. Furthermore it's Dixon's alma matter.

UCLA is a bit of a relic that lacks the modern amenities, fan/admin support, etc.

Just odd to me

No idea why UCLA isn't going after Beard from Texas Tech? If you can take Texas Tech to the levels they have been at the last few years and then take them to a Final Four, imagine what he could do at a school with the resources like UCLA.

What resources do they really have these days? You clearly need financial support to get these high end players. UCLA doesn't seem to have much of that with respect to athletics these days.

I'm talking about resources like Los Angeles high school talent vs Lubbock. Southern California scenery vs Lubbock. UCLA education vs TT. UCLA wins in EVERY category. I get that UCLA hasn't been what they used to be, but don't sit there and act like Texas Tech = UCLA. We all know that UCLA is a way better job. Again, I'm totally surprised they wouldn't wait for somebody like Chris Beard.

You’re glamorizing the UCLA job. Why do you think they ended up with Steve Alford last time? That job isn’t what it used to be.

I think it's realistic to say it's a better job than Texas Tech.

He's glamorizing UCLA against Texas Tech. UCLA is the better job, but Texas Tech has the perfect fit.

Is it? Just because a job is located in a major metro area doesn't make it a better job.

UCLA is archaic.

Beard has deep ties to Texas Tech. He also walked away from UNLV to go there. That might be where he retires.

It does when the alternative in question is in Lubbock.

From what I've heard, UT is going to go after him HARD once both of their seasons are done. Might be a case where UCLA knows they can't compete with what UT can offer, so they won't even bother trying and looking like fools when they lose him.

I think Shaka is getting another year. They have a great class coming in and are returning a few pieces from this year.

If they would have handled business against Radford and Providence at home in December they would have been in the tournament. They also had to suspend snoop for smoking weed for a decent piece of the big 12 schedule.
