No tips but my cousin raise don’t one and it would follow him around, climb up his leg into his arms, and sit on his shoulder. It would climb up on his roof and come when he called it. I just remember those claws when it climbed up my leg to get a ride on me. It was not a gentle creature.

Knew someone who had one as a pet. Raccoon would get dressed up in a Saints outfit. Was a character. When he passed away the owner was devastated. Was even potty trained

Their feces can carry baylisascariasis. Bad for dogs if you have one.

Buy kitten milk replacement (goat milk) at a local feed store and wean it when research suggests.

Love it for a while but when it gets to be an adult you should just turn it loose because it will start to have a mind of its own.

Wild animals can only be domesticated so much.

Very big heads up. My daughter, a DVM had told me that she is seeing a lot of cases of distemper this spring. Racoons are a very big carrier of distemper.

I had on that lived in my closet for about a year as a kid, I'd walk it around on a dog leash.

Then it got too big and started making a mess out of the house so we let it go in a residential area with a creek.

They are cool but wild, check with a Vet about shots etc

I had one when I was in HS. As it got older, it got a little pissy so I released it in the woods.

I've actually heard skunks (with scent gland taken out of course) can be very good pets

It will get mean and likely try to eat your face off soon.

I raised one from before it's eyes were open when I was a kid. Like others said, you can "tame" a coon but never truly domesticate it. While it's young it will tolerate you as a source of food, but it will never bond with you like a dog. When it gets grown it will do what it wants, and will be hell on wheels during breeding season. I released mine when he was just about grown, he hung around the house for a week or two then moved on.

Just be careful. My next door neighbor was telling me he and his wife raised one several years ago. It was a female and as soon as it got a little order it got aggressive told his wife and eventually attacked her. Vet told them that when his wife had her "cycle", the raccoon could tell (don't know how) and sensed it as a threat and that is what caused the attack. Just trying to pass on some info that might help you. They had to put it down redneck style. Good luck!
