So, is there an answer to why this dickbutt pope won’t let anyone kiss the ring?

When I saw this clip on the news they said it was because he was trying to be a “man of the people” and discourage people from seeing him as different than a normal person basically.

Religion is so silly to me. I legitimately feel sorry for people involved in it.

I say this often, if it were not for very good catholic schools the religion would be dying very fast. They get a pass that many other religions don't.

Do you have significant exposure to anywhere other than southeast Louisiana? You're aware that there are entire nations whose religions and cultures are steeped in Catholicism right?

Ugh the false humility is really beginning to annoy me. They are showing respect to and love for the Successor of Peter, NOT Pope Francis the man.

Exactly! Francis as a person is a POS.

Why do so many people want to kiss his ring?

They're trying to show respect to the office, not the man. Whether you agree with the papacy or not, its roots go back almost 2,000 years to the formation of Christianity itself. By the second century, we see Christian authors such as Irenaeus of Lyons writing that all Christians should obey the bishop of Rome, as his See was established by both Peter and Paul.

266 men have sat in that chair since the first century. Francis is the latest in a long line of men to have held the title Bishop of Rome. By kissing his ring, people are showing solemn respect to the history of that office.

Can a catholic tell me why they don't tell people not to do that if he doesn't want it done?

Back in the day, an English nobleman traveling in the old west met a cowboy on the trail. The Englishman asked, "Where is your master?" The cowboy replied, "the son of a bitch hasn't been born yet!"

A free born man doesn't go around kissing rings.

I don’t understand it either. It makes me cringe to see it.

I'm a free man serving in the United States Navy and yet I go around saluting my superiors when we cross paths outside. It's called respect. I am not saluting the man, I am saluting the man's rank. It's similar when you kiss the pope's ring. You aren't paying homage or respect to Pope Francis, you are paying homage and respect to the office which he holds. He is the royal steward of Christ's kingdom on earth. When you kiss that ring, you are bowing down to Jesus Christ and his authority. As it was Jesus Christ and his authority which established Pope Francis's office to begin with.

....They're not all that good. I know one Catholic school fell victim to obamitization. Was shocked to learn most diocesan Catholic Schools (not all) get substantial subsidies from the federal government. Had to sit and watch a graduation where everyone got an award

You can thank George Soros for that.
