Thinking about getting one applied to my truck. Guy in Lafayette quoted me 3 different levels of coating from $1700-$2300 that last 3-7 years (depending on the option you go with).

Because the coating locks in any imperfections in your vehicle, a full paint correction is required in advance. Guy said he does 50 hours of prep work on each vehicle before applying the coating and that the vehicle looks like it's rolled off the assembly line. once the coating is applied, the hardness rating is 10H and it's super hydrophobic. Makes future washes a breeze and most scratches and scuffs can be wiped off with ease. It's like another layer of paint

anyone have this done? would like some input before dropping the coin on it. couldnt find a gif of it, but there are vids of dudes scratching vehicles up with different objects and wiping them off with a rag. it's wild

Just my opinion, but I haven't had any issue of anything getting on my vehicle that I couldn't wash off in a car wash. I usually pay a little more and use the nicer car washes.

I can wash my truck as much as I need to before I buy a new one, and won't come close to spending $1700 in fees. So for me, it's not worth the price.

Louque's Exo-Techs in Destrehan. Best around with by far the best pricing. Alex does high quality work, check him out on Instagram or FB. If you tell you were referred he'll hook you up. I actually had my truck coated and he put a film on it and had him paint my brake calipers while he had the chance. Looks brand new still and easy as hell to keep clean.

Anything after market on a car is about as trashy as it comes.

I recently bought a black car and thought about doing this since I drive so many highway miles every day. After only 2 months, I wish I had. It already has a bunch of small chips and scratches.

Same here. Just repaint the hood and have it coated.

I'd have to say no to that. While convenient, you can get over 300 car washes for that.

That's a pretty broad range. What factors whether it lasts 3 years or 7 years?

What about love bugs? Those bastards are difficult to completely remove using traditional car washes.

2nd one is a 2 layer coating that lasts for 5 years - $2000
3rd one is a 3 layer coating that lasts for 7 years - $2300

So the coating lasts as long as you keep your car in a place where the coating isn't needed most of the time? Seems like the costs outweigh the benefits in most situations.

If you're going to do it, it's difficult not to go with 3 yrs for $600 more

I was under the impression that it was for when shite hits your car while you’re doing 80mph.

it's very good for that and it's very good for acidic shite like love bugs and birdshit. you're totally protected

guys are reporting that all you need is a pressure washer and a foam gun to wash once the coating is applied. pretty much touchless

Those prices are high. Ceramic Pro in BR did my truck for about $1000, and the coating has a lifetime warranty at that price.

But doesn't last as long under those circumstances according to your answer to my question.
