Good. We can hold on to next years #1 pick for a few more weeks

Quinn was never going to be traded for a first

I have a tip for Dallas... their defense is not their problem.

I think both teams offered the same draft pick compensation. If anything I think Dallas was probably willing to give Quinn a deal he liked a bit more.

guess we can get ziggy ansah if everything checks out ok with his shoulder

probably has more to do with the holdout they're going to get from Lawrence over his contract

Cowboys got desperate because of the D-Lawrence situation. They're going to be thin at DL and already full of drama.

Quinn's agent negotiated a 1 year extension with the cowboys. I'm assuming saints did not want to commit with all the extensions and back end money already on the books for next year.

Quinn most likely will be starting at the cowboys too. I don’t think he would want to be behind a second year player if he had an option

I didn't think it was really about Quinn. I thought it was about how the two teams would split his remaining contract numbers. So if the Saints and Fins agreed to the contract split and draft pick, he would be a Saint.
It is a trade not a FA signing, so Quinn didn't really have any leverage on where he was traded or maybe I am not understand the situation correctly?

he had some leverage because no one wanted to take on his contract as is.
he had to rework his deal with whomever he preferred.
so he looked at both situations and met with both teams. Saints either didnt offer as much money for him upfront or like someone else mentioned he didnt want to back up Cam Jordan and rotate with a mid first rounder.

quote:Steal. The one year contract that he wanted must have been the holdup. He may have taken a reduction in base with some incentives. He probably felt it more likely to reach incentives with Dallas given their situation at DE.
we could've had Quinn for a 2020 6th round pick

pick is also somewhat dependent on the cap structure of trade. If saints needed dolphins to eat more of the cap then the pick could have been more rich for us.

Yep and if it does check out, I think Ziggy has the bigger upside at this point in his career as compared to Quinn.
