What do you get when you subsidize anything? More of that. So, if you subsidize unemployment, you will get more of it until the entire system collapses.

Hell, even in the Soviet Union, you kind of had to pretend to work to get a paycheck (such as it was).

FFS - we've been subsidizing poverty for over 50 years and it hasn't dropped a bit - so, now we want to go all in?

Excuse me, sir! EXCUSE ME!!! That is no way to manufacture a facade of wide-ranging grass-roots support!

Please stop looking at his actual ideas and just go with the feelings they engender.

And who is going to be the boogeyman of the next 10 to 20 years?Who’s going to be the great rival to the United States in the eyes of American society? China, that’s right. And so, what do you think the attitude is going to be over time for the shrinking, insecure white majority that’s losing their jobs for, let’s say, Chinese Americans or Asian Americans? I said to a group at Harvard, I think we’re one generation away from falling into the same camps as that the Jews who were attacked in a synagogue in Pittsburgh like just a couple months [ago]. So we’re probably one generation away from an American shooting up a bunch of Asians saying like, damn the Chinese, because there’s a giant Cold War even more with China. That is the great danger that I fear that my children are going to grow up in.

This nation is going to crash and burn, might as well enjoy a free $1000 a month while it burns.

I prefer to think of it as removing overhead and government inefficiency.

Thomas Paine summarized his view by stating that "Men did not make the earth. It is the value of the improvements only, and not the earth itself, that is individual property. Every proprietor owes to the community a ground rent for the land which he holds."

Citizen's dividend is a proposed policy based upon the principle that the natural world is the common property of all persons (see Georgism). It is proposed that all citizens receive regular payments (dividends) from revenue raised by leasing or taxing the monopoly of valuable land and other natural resources.

Looks like I started the discussion. Quite proud. Two national election cycles now I’ve had an impact on this board.

Universal Basic Income is an automatic disqualifier. I'm not voting for anyone who wants to pay people to be lazy, shiftless and unemployed. How did that work out for Finland?

Nobody is talking about the Nordics backpedaling away from their socialistic policies right now when it should be breaking news.

The more and more I see of him, the more and more I’m convinced he’d be great for the Democratic Party. He’s asking the right questions. Which is why I hope he fails.
