There was an arch Bishop in Texas YEARS ago that had this theory: Back in the day psychologists used to say the best way for a person to be cured of pedophelia was to remain abstinent and the pedophilia would stop. This arch Bishop claims that perhaps this is why some priests joined the priesthood. ...Because they thought abstinence would cure their pedophilia....

I've heard another theory similar to this that priesthood was/is a way for homosexuals and pedophiles to have a respectable job and life without having to worry about people giving them shite for not having a wife and kids. Dan Savage has said on record that's why he thought about going in to it and he said he's spoken to others who said the same.
