Wyoming has less than a million people living there.
New your has over 19 million people.
Each vote represents 673,869 people roughly
wyoming has 577,737 people living there.
Every electoral vote for New York represents more people than live in the entire state of Wyoming.
And then Wyoming gets 2 more votes.
How is that equal representation? They’re getting over 3xs the representations. That’s basic math.
This same arguement was had when our forefathers were deciding on how the legislature would be decided, and they just went with the bicameral house.
The EC splits the baby, but why? And should it?
Some other extreme exacmoles
Montana has almost double Wyoming’s populations and the same # of votes.

If they really cared about this issue they would pass a state law that distributed their electoral college votes according the percentage of votes won in the state, like Nebraska and maine rather than a winner take all...

You don't want the chief executive of this country beholding to the politicians of large population states.
If you think catering to swing states is bad then wait until entire campaigns are limited to four or five states and the backroom deals that come out of that.

I dont Want him beholden to a bunch of unpopulated states either.
Wouldn’t it make sense to break up the power of these big states and let their minority’s votes count?

WY has three because it's the minimum amount of EC you can possibly have. If you think that means that WY has more power than NY then I don't know what to tell you.
Do you think WY should only have one Senator in addition to their 1 representative?

So what. What a retarded argument. There is nothing stopping leftist Marxists from moving to Wyoming and make their vote count more in the EC.
The Constitution would have never been ratified without the EC. Do away with the EC, you do away with the republic.

Don't look now, but our Constitution brilliantly solved this problem. It is called the EC.

It wouldn’t have been ratified if we outlawed slavery and we seemed to survive that.
We also didn’t even decide the EC by popular votes in the states.
We also didn’t let women vote.
That’s a billshit arguement.
We’re also forgetting that a large chunk of our forefathers wanted just a representative house.

Would they count in reality? You wouldn't be breaking up the power. You'd be consolidating it in fewer and fewer hands.
Remember the shenanigans in Dade County?

The funny thing about how it's all blue states doing this is they're giving a Republican the only chance they would have of winning that state.
A Republican is never going to win Connecticut, New York, etc but now that these states want to leave it to the national popular vote a Republican has a chance.
These idiots can't see the forest for the trees.

Omg why trust the fricking electoral college if you don’t trust voting at all?
Posted on 3/13/19 at 5:48 pm to WesternChauvinist
Sammy's upset that people have equal representation. I'm sure he's upset that the constitution gets in the way of majority rule as well.

I think Trump will win the popular vote this time around as an incumbent.
Just like W did.
I atill Think the electoral college represents land and not people.

you really want to make the left melt?
all 50 states get same number of EV's.
being that trump won most states and a VAST majority of counties can you imagine the uproar?

They don’t.
Wyoming and Montana are represented at drastically different rates.
It’s like you don’t know what equal means.

I don't trust the people in charge of recording voting results. We've seen enough attempted fraud over the years to be completely jaded by now.
That's. one reason why I want the election of a president to be as broad as possible and not consolidated to a few.

They have the bare minimum yet you're acting as if they're the key to stealing an election. They have one vote in the house. Is that too much for you too?

Lets say just for example California decides it wants to go all in to get a Dem candidate in and stuffs the boxes, highly unethical but very possible, with the EC system they still only get 55 EC votes, it prevents one rogue state from swinging an election.
