Here is my take on it, now understand I don’t have a dog in the flight. Common since would tell how easy it is to get out of situation. The comments about “the smart deal”, wade knew Dawkins wasn’t part of Smarts recruitment so Dawkins had know clue as to what the deal LSU made. Wade was probing to see what it would take to get whom ever Dawkins was working, wade wanted to see what it was going to take. The fake news media likes to take snippets and blow them out of proportion. LSU AD and President have stumbled all over their feet once more and made a situation worst. Instead of the three getting together working things out LSU AD runs to the NCAA trying CYA and now the NCAA wants to be apart of any meeting with Wade. Wade’s lawyer smelt a ambush and said not to talk them without him. I call tell you, good luck of ever getting a decent coach to come to LSU. The administration doesn’t back the coach, who would want to work in that kind of environment.

Yep.
The worth of any relationship is determined when the relationship is tested, when there's pressure. LSU administration freaked out when a little pressure reared its head. LSU admins failed the test.

I continue to see people stating, as fact, that WW violated NCAA rules. This is just a reminder that the very Yahoo article that everyone points to does not say that. It in fact says,
The LSU admin better be holding info that implicates WW of wrong doing, above and beyond the Yahoo article. If they do, they should've fired WW and hired a new coach. This recruiting cycle is about to be destroyed over this idiocy.

The tape does not reference any specifics about the “offer,” if the particulars of the “offer” violated NCAA rules, if the player and/or his mother ever knew of the “offer” or if anyone accepted whatever the “offer” was.

Interesting how the hoardes of Joe Trolls like to conveniently omit this part.
It's almost like they have an agenda...

What type of dumb comment is this?
“Accepted” the suspension? When you get suspended by your employer, you have no choice, but to accept it. Lol

Can Wade do anything legally to counterpunch? I’m not a lawyer so I’m clueless, but if he’s an innocent man, seems like he’d have a right to clear his name and sue for damages against the source of the leak and/or LSU/NCAA for repercussions suffered from the leak if he is in fact innocent.

Makes me think vitale must know wayyyy more about these kind of offers than most
Vitale having been exclusively in the college game since the 70's knows a lot of things mabt don't and I have no question he knows a lot of things worse than anything he may or may not know of what happened with WW. Yet he comes out against Wade scorched earth. That's the hypocrisy that pisses us all off.

That would be some shite if they had access to the entire tape and released what they did because that was the worst of it.
That’s actually typically what they do.

I am guessing more is going to get dropped at the appropriate times with the tournament approaching. Those attorneys get paid to help their clients they gives a damn who gets burned in the process. Hopefully that’s all they had on WW and are moving on to bigger fish.
Or maybe the threat of dropping more gets the settlement they want without having to reveal the rest, and the blue bloods get off scott free again and LSU was used only to show they could do it and is just collateral damage.

The problem is the fact that there are more than one leak and more than one conversation about specific players. If it was just one, then yes, there could be questions regarding the legitimacy.
BUT, even in this case, whether the player or mother knew about the offer is damning evidence in itself. If an offer is made it is a serious violation of NCAA rules regardless of the player/parent knowing about it. "Acceptance" of an offer also does not alleviate the offer from being against NCAA rules.
WW's representatives should never use the word "offer" or admit to the fact that it exists unless it cannot be avoided.
This was actually read in a court of law.
quote:
At least two media outlets covering the trial reported that defense attorneys tried to enter into evidence a taped conversation between Wade and Dawkins concerning 2019 four-star recruit Balsa Koprivica
quote:
the government recorded a conversation in which Dawkins talks to Wade about a recruit “you would have funded.”
quote:
After confirming the player was Koprivica, a native of Serbia who is playing at Montverde Academy in Florida, Wade allegedly told Dawkins “there’s other (expletive) involved in it.
"Wait, I’ve got to shut the door … I can get you what you need, but it’s got to work.”
quote:
A transcript of Wade’s conversation with Dawkins was read in court but not allowed into evidence by Judge Lewis A. Kaplan
This statement by WW may be true. But if the information released is accurate, it isn't because he didn't try.
quote:
A day later, at SEC basketball media days, Wade said he has “never, ever” done business with Dawkins.
Advocate article - Report: LSU coach Will Wade will be subpoenaed in federal basketball corruption trial
quote:
Wade’s name emerged as part of a conversation with Dawkins about a recruit named Balsa Koprivica. One of Adidas executive Jim Gatto’s attorneys read aloud a wiretap transcript where Wade and Dawkins were speaking about Koprivica. The attorney, Casey E. Donnelly, said that Wade and Dawkins were communicating to get him what he needs – “meaning money,” she said – in order to play at LSU.
Donnelly read the conversation this way:
“Would you want Balsa?” Dawkins asked.
“Oh, the big kid?” Wade responded.
Dawkins confirmed.
“OK, but there is other [expletive] involved in it,” Wade said. “Wait, I’ve got to shut the door … I can get you what you need, but it’s got to work.”
Wade went on to tell reporters at SEC media day in October that he has “never, ever done business of any kind with Christian Dawkins.” But there’s an expectation that Wade will appear on wiretaps talking about recruits other than Koprivica. Wade has had recruiting success that’s historically anomalous, including luring top players from Connecticut (Tremont Waters) and New Jersey (Naz Reid) to Baton Rouge.

And for people questioning "why doesn't Wade do this or why hadn't he done that" it is because this can have VERY SERIOUS legal ramifications for him.

Legal analyst Tim Meche says Wade may see ramifications from the feds too.
He explains that there are questions that need to be answered amid claims that Wade offered to take part in a pay for play arrangement for Javonte Smart.
“The government is going to have to argue somebody is a victim. Is it Mr. Smart? Is it the LSU program? Are they victims or did they benefit from this sort of activity?” said Meche.
quote:
What’s the worst that could happen to Wade?
“The federal government could do to Mr. Wade what they did to Mr. Dawkins, and indict him and prosecute him in federal court under a wire fraud theory,” said Meche.
Meche doesn’t foresee LSU being on the receiving end of legal ramifications from the feds if the allegations turn out to be true.
“I think that the government will argue that the university is ultimately the victim as a result of Coach Wade and Mr. Smart’s scheme,” said Meche.
Meche says during Wade’s suspension, he would expect Wade to go into hiding and his legal counsel to advise the coach to not make any public comment.

This shite pisses me off right here. It’s not an anomaly at all. LSU has recruited players from around the country for decades, and the two players referenced had extenuating circumstances that led them to LSU.

I sold my house in Katy last August. Prior to that closing, maybe May or June, I received a strong offer from an investment property flipper (let's call him Dawkins) that led to both of us negotiating, setting a price, and signing a purchase agreement. After 28 days, Dawkins informed me his financing had fallen through and the deal was dead, and I sold the house to another buyer.
In spite of all the communications and signed documents, I can say, without pause:
“I have never, ever done business of any kind with Dawkins.”

Luckily, it would never hold up in court because a good lawyer could say that the “offer” could have been a handshake deal that Smart would benefit from a solid LSU education.

Yep and
could say that the “offer” could have been a handshake deal that Smart's mother would benefit from a solid LSU education
and
could say that the “offer” could have been a handshake deal that Smart's handler would benefit from a solid LSU education
and
could say that the “league minimum” offered could have been a handshake deal that Smart would benefit from a solid LSU education
and
could say that the “funding” of Balsa Koprivica could have been a handshake deal that Smart's mother would benefit from a solid LSU education

Please don't confuse Rantards with LSU's normal fans. This site is more of a representation of a soap opera where dead people miraculously come back than anything close to "real-life".
