The tape does not reference any specifics about the “offer,” if the particulars of the “offer” violated NCAA rules, if the player and/or his mother ever knew of the “offer” or if anyone accepted whatever the “offer” was.

I’ve been thinking this. If true then there is no reason for any of this.

Where’s the damning part? The talk about actual money?

When Wade says Smart will make more than the NBA rookie minimum.

How do you justify that?

But I think Wade should still be coaching because we were clearly bidding against other teams. You don’t bid against yourself. Wade was just leveling the playing field. Playing with the big dogs.

You are completely right in all media written or tv. They play a sound bite and before it add their context, then sound bite, then everyone is shocked when with the actual context means little or nothing.

What's been released to the media is not relevant. What is in the actual recordings is relevant. Fans are not entitled to a transcript of the actual recordings.

That there is an ongoing FBI investigation is not a fabrication. That Wade is part of that investigation is sufficient grounds for LSU, in its discretion, to suspend him. Don't agree with their decision? Perfectly reasonable opinion. What is unreasonable is to suggest there are no legitimate grounds to suspend Wade.

Assuming what has been reported is true, I don't see how anyone -- not deluding themselves for the sake of wins and losses -- can interpret Wade's words as anything other than coordinating/authorizing payment to an athlete (via intermediaries) to get him to sign a commitment.

That was my assumption, there was an "offer" mentioned but didn't see anything that said "what" the offer is. If there is no evidence found of such offer, I am confident he will be cleared.

And he accepted the suspension

As opposed to refusing it and coaching anyway? smh

I'm crossing my fingers that the leaks that are suppose to come out later in the week don't answer these questions.

That’s not how these things work. The information that was leaked is intended to be as salacious as possible and was manipulated in a way to do maximal damage to Wade. Wade likely looks much less guilty or not guilty at all if full transcript is leaked. If more damning recordings exist, they would have lead with those.

Not factual. It's been over a week and some of you still don't understand the basic facts.

The question is why LSU is lying about this and misleading people.

I'd also like to know why they are being so petty.

It could have been edited and spliced together for all we know. I’m not saying it is, but we should use a bit of skepticism before just coming out and declaring someone guilty.

So the feds didn't point out that a transcript read in open court was inaccurate?

Here's the problem. Wade isn't being investigated. He's only named as a witness. He's a 3rd party in all of this. There is no proof of any money changing hands or they wouldn't have cleared Smart to play in the SEC tournament. The administration completely overreacted and once compliance got involved Wade was fricked. That office has been a problem at LSU for a while now.

Release the tape. Name the source(s). Until then it’s hearsay evidence

I called Miriam Segar and said something like that (message on voicemail).
Then I called all AD members and Compliance members. Had to leave messages, but I said things like “Kneejerk reaction to a sensationalized media report”.

Keep up the pressure. Call them, email them.
I’m putting this on all threads today, contact info.

My suspicion, Wade will be vindicated when it is all and done.

And we’d be forced to clean house in the admin and compliance offices. Would be awesome.

I love how dickie V is so appalled and disgusted the the “offer”, yet there are zero details about what the offer could be. Makes me think vitale must know wayyyy more about these kind of offers than most. How would he know so much about these offers? Hmmmm.

I'm sure Dickie V knows first hand many worse offenses. It was obvious from the games he did before this came out (Kentucky and Tennessee) that he had something against WW. Zero compliments...he mentioned Dale more than he die WW in those two games. Not sure what the problem is there, did WW not kiss his ring, did Cal rip WW to his buddy Dickie V and got him ticked off...not sure, but the hypocrisy is infuriating.
