Pay him for as long as you can!

I don’t. I’d trade him right now.

I have been pushing that narrative for a bit now. Rosen making only 3 mill or so a yr for next 4 years helps a lot.
Can't pay Teddy and expect to keep both AK and MT

Yes you really want to pay him. Not many WR are this good while also being a good teammate. It would be nice if he agreed to a deal like 5 years $85 million to give the team a little more money for other guys but I’d guess his next contract will end up being 5 years $100 million with around $65 mil guaranteed. Then Kamara will be 4 years $44 million after that.

Time after time, teams have gone downhill after paying a WR top flight money. You save your money for where it really counts. The offensive/defensive lines, corners, and quarterbacks. Everything else can be drafted and developed much more commonly.
I love Thomas. He's one of my favorite players, but I'd hate to see him stay at that cost.

Pay.
That.
Man.
His.
Money.
And for the love of God get him some help at WR2 and TE. The Brees Superbowl window is short.

I think Thomas is a top 5 receiver, I just think 20 million is too much for a WR. That’s 1/7th of the cap for a position that only makes a big impact 7-10 plays in a game. I know this probably isn’t a popular position, but look at the Giants, a top receiver doesn’t make them a winner. Pay for lineman because they make you better every play.

MT is a man amongst boys, especially in the playoffs. Loomis will back up the Brinks truck for him.

I wouldn’t pay him lol but I like him..
No WR is worth it imo none

Nope I’m dealing him in a second if he wants that kind of money. Bree’s will make someone else great.

This isn’t 2011 man.
Pretty ridiculous to ask a 40+ year old qb to elevate marginal players at this point. We should give him the best weapons we can for however long he’s going to stay.

Pay him Dude can go down as one of the best WRs this era.
Michael Thomas is a great player but in these situations you should ask yourself, "what would new England do?". Have to look at what is best for the greater good of the team as a whole unit rather than as individual units.

and take the money out of what position group?
quote:really? how do you do the 'pay him his money' and this one other thing simultaneously without sucking the money out of the oline or RB's or dline or LB's or DB's?

The cap is over $180M, so that's 1/9th. By the time we have to pay it, it'll be closer to 10%.
Also, he may only touch the ball 7-10 times a game, but he's an excellent blocker in the run game, and he opens up plays for other guys to make a play. It would be safe to say if MT is on the field he impacts the play someway.
