quote:

In an attempt to save the Amazon plan, Cuomo has spent the last two weeks privately talking with Amazon executives, including Bezos, two people with knowledge of the conversations told the New York Times. While Cuomo did not offer a new location for the HQ2 plan, he did guarantee the executives that there would be support for the plan, according to one of the Times sources. In addition Cuomo's efforts to save the plan, an open letter is being arranged for publication in the Times on Friday, the newspaper reported.

AOC is not going to allow billionaires to invest in her district, that would not be moral.

This could be a win either way

1. Amazon could go there, which would lead to AOC saying more stupid stuff, thus helping Republicans.

2. Amazon doesn’t go there and people realize that socialists are stupid, don’t want people to have jobs, and maybe the Dems will learn a lesson (though I doubt it).

Aint going to happen. They are going to do what they should have done, to begin with. expand in 2 different existing locations, where everything is cheaper.

I don't know anything about the other location, but the 1 in Tennessee has great interstate access, and plenty of available property around it.

really dislike the man, but this is the right thing to do for NY.

He'd be a fool not to.

Am I bad for hoping Bezos says frick you? I feel like I've been sympathetic towards NYC since Sept 11 2001 and they've never given two shits about me.

From the article:

"I do believe Amazon should have stayed and fought the opposition," said Cuomo on Tuesday in a radio interview. "It was a vocal minority opposition. Seventy percent of the people support Amazon."

No, dummy, it's your job as governor to make sure this deal goes through, not stand on the sideline as some crazy bitch torpedoes it.

On his knees now.

So dems. now think big business is a good thing because it will create jobs and be good for the economy.

So good for the economy that they are willing to give tax breaks for them to come in.

How do they explain this?

AOC may be a socialist but I'm so fricking tired of the idea that not bending over backwards to give a company favorable tax treatment is equivalent to socialism. Strangely, some of the same people that support the amazon deal simultaneously oppose other deals (like Tesla).

I realize that incentive packages vary, but nobody actually looks into the details.

He has to try, but I don't think Amazon will go for it.

Honestly, I don't understand Amazon wanting it there to begin with, considering the amount of heavy truck traffic in and out of NYC that Amazon would rely on.

Just the cost of all those toll roads and bridges would make me think twice.

Seems like The last time that I crossed George Washington Bridge several years ago, the toll was around 100 bucks.

I am anything but a Cuomo fan, but he should be doing everything humanly possible to get that Amazon deal back. It was a very popular deal among NY voters and for what it would bring to the state and area that the proposed location would be. If Cuomo is just posturing to look like he was against what that bat crap crazy socialist did to undermine the Amazon deal, then the state and the city got what they deserved but I am inclined (against better judgment when it comes to NYC dems) to think that even a Cuomo isn't dumb enough to try and sabotage a deal as lucrative for NY as this deal was.

Toll roads and bridges charge humongus tolls to trucks, and there would be a lot of them.

Root for:

Bezos
Cuomo
AOC

This is like Bama, UGA and LSU playing in the first three way football game.

I just hope it works out terribly for everyone.
