My internet has gotten cheaper and faster!

Was the most boring and uninteresting political issue of my lifetime. I never cared one iota and still dont. Have no idea what it was about and still dont care. Just know I wanted liberal tears.

Simplest answer: it was an Obama-era solution to a hypothetical problem.
Whether or not you espoused it's supposed virtues, you should oppose it on grounds of it being unwarranted government expansion.

I remember that being a mocking straw man, but I don’t remember anyone claiming that it would cause a sudden down tick of the Internet.
Certainly not a widespread attitude.
Mostly it was seeing no good come out of it, especially as the rule came about in the first place in response to violations to it.
“Oh don’t worry, we won’t throttle your connection. We just really really would like the freedom to do it. But we actually won’t.”
Oh right, I forgot. The upside was going to be how much infrastructure investment was stifled because of the rules.
And yet Comcast, Charter and Verizon dropped CapEx this year (Comcast by around 3% of their prior budget) and analysts estimate the drop industry wide to continue and be an additional 6% by the end of 2019.
Oops
And the speed increases in the past year? Same growth trend that we had in past years. Interesting to see if that continues or flattens out as we get data on the topic from this brave new world of infrastructure capital investment.
