The long-term ramifications for Nike remain to be seen, but in the short term, investors reacted by unloading Nike stock. The shares tumbled as much as 1.7 percent on Thursday and closed down 1.1 percent at $83.95, erasing roughly $1.1 billion from the sporting apparel company's market capitalization since Wednesday's close.

It’s funny that the whole thing with Kap actually helped their cause, but one shoe blows out and this happens

I have been thinking about this but does anyone think Zion tampered with the shoe to cause the failure so he could sit out the rest of the season and save face from not playing?

Headline manipulation more than anything. Stock prices fluctuate all the time. It’s just an easy click if you can connect it to some event

Meh that’s not really a substantial loss. It might have nothing to do with the Zion thing.

From the look on his face it sure didn’t look like it was on purpose.

He would sit out the season to avoid injury. There’s probably better ways to go about that then by doing something that would have exponentially increased the chance of a serious injury...

Yep, people have very short memories. In a few days absolutely nobody who was planning on buying new shoes will see Nike's and pass on them and buy something else because of this.

The news cycle we live in is so fast these days the public is over just about ANYTHING in a matter of days.

Exactly he’s done enough to be a guaranteed top 3 pick and probably #1 no matter what.

He should just hire an agent and make a spoof Nike commercial with another shoe company. Debut it during March madness from his new crib

I would bet the issues with their self-lacing shoes app had a LOT more to do with it.

Those Paul George shoes were some of the most worn in the NBA and never had that issue.

Yes, Zion Williamson tampered with his shoe to risk serious knee injury.

My first thought when it happened.
